I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!

Actually, it does have lightmaps now. I edited the image and put in a newer one, as this is the finshed base texture for the diffuse. I'll just have to work on normal detail (make the trim more interesting) and work on thos corners, which seem too massive to me now.

Gonna start vertex paint next!

Description

Almost all done- I decided to make 2 materials though, because I may want to reuse, e.g. the windows and don't want them on a map with the house textures. I may end up with 3 materials for the house.

This is just the very basic setup to check for UV errors and other problems. You see some black seams that is, because the model has no lightmaps yet and is vertex lit. It will change in the future. Also, there will be protective pieces on some corners, so the transitions between meshes will be hidden there anyway.

Next step will be to finish the UVs for the remaining pieces, make proper normal maps and then begin working on the vertex paint shader. The base texture for the house will stay clean as it is, but I will paint dirt, broken paint and dust onto the model in UDK (with vertex paint).
