we decided that green was the right color for the logo. I might try to clean it and add some effects, but overall I like the look.

Thanks! making fonts and logos is more work than it seems. Despite or rather because of the simple nature and the reduction you find in them.
I'm not not drawn to simplicity by nature, so when I create a logo and icon I usually over-do-it the original draft. Then I have to simplify from there. Its hard to create something original and eye-catching. I think you did a great job!
