For what it's worth, Jeroenimo, I did some more experimenting with removing files as you suggested early on when you released this otherwise fantastic patch.

Removing all of the explosion / damage effects did not stabilize the game for me, merely increased the amount of time from the beginning of a play-through and a crash. With all files in place, a crash can be guaranteed within 15 minutes of gameplay OR the introduction of more than one Victory / Imperial-II Star Destroyer is introduced or destroyed.

It rarely crashes with Rebellion or Consortium ships for me. Removing the effects makes it last roughly...20 to 40 minutes more. That implies, to me, that it may have something to go with RAM allocation or graphics memory? I know nothing about how the files work for this game, though - you're the master here.

Just tried it again with the changes that you suggested, no luck. Removed every PD_ file and it still crashes at the same rate unfortunately.

Well look at me, reading your comments so thoroughly. Thanks for catching that, I'm going to check it out.

Is a reinstall a good idea? Everything else except the crashes is fine so I'm not sure I need it, but if it could stop the crashing, that might be helpful.

Hey there Jeroenimo. First of all, what can I say? I've been using your mods since you first released them. I've been that silent fan in the corner. Your mods are perfect, and I will probably never stop playing them.

I've been reading the comments here and trying to keep up with the fixes you've suggested for the constant crashes. First, some details:

I am running EAW on a Asus ROG Gaming Laptop with a GTX 990M w/ 4gb dedicated RAM. In otherwords, my game isn't crashing because my computer can't handle the load.

I did as you suggested, and removed the MAJORITY of the PL_ files. The ones that I've removed are as follows:

pl_blaster_c
pl_blaster_g
pl_blaster_m
pl_blaster_y
pl_heavyturbolaser_c
pl_heavyturbolaser_g
pl_heavyturbolaser_m
pl_heavyturbolaser_y
pl_laser_(see above)
pl_turbolaser_(see above)

These removals have NOT affected the crashing and it still continues to crash at the same rate. These crashes occur for me when a Victory, Interdictor, Imperial-2, Allegiance or Super-Star Destroyer is DESTROYED, and only then. The more of them on the map at once, the more likely the crash is to occur.

I hope this helps you to discover the root cause and a solution.

Yessir, the Death Star has a tendency to inexplicably detonate the planet it is in orbit of. It also kills itself in the process, leaving the planet abandoned. Not fun.

It's funny until it destroys Coruscant. Ah well.

Genius can't be rushed, especially your type of genius. Those of us that care about and respect your work are patient. Don't worry, we'll be here when it's finished one way or another. Looking forward to release. :)

Hey there Geroenimo; the work you've put into this mod is simply astounding. I actually get disappointed when I have to take the game out of cinematic mode to actually fight the bad guys! I enjoy watching too much.

I have some questions about the mod that I wanted to pose for you, as I'm just curious about what your end goal is. Firstly, whenever any ship (frigate and up) engages the enemy, it starts rotating in place. For some ships, like the Republic Blockade Runner, this sorta makes sense, but for a ship like the Leviathan, I'm curious. Is it your intention to have these ships always facing their target instead of letting the rotating turrets do their work?

Secondly, are you planning on spending much more time specifically on the balancing of each individual faction? Or are you pretty much set with where they are right now?

Thirdly, are there any plans for making the game run a liiiiiittle smoother when there's a lot going on? Or is that out of your control mostly?

Thanks very much, and good luck getting back to work on this! :)
