My name is Jan, in the web known as "Ravenblood". I'm a Game Modder, Programmer and 3D Artist from Germany. I'm currently learning modeling with Blender, Programming with Java and C++ and Digital Painting in Photoshop. You can see examples of my 3D work on my profile. Currently I'm working on several HL2 Mods and planning my own projects. I'm generally interested in game development, 3D modeling and animation. I also plan to study these topics. Currently I am doing my A level in Data Processing Technology. If you want to contact me feel free to send me a PM here on moddb or send me an e-mail: info[at]ravenbloodinteractive.net
in the past time I was more or less inactive here.
I had some stuff to do for school, like drawing pictures, writing tests etc..
But one half of the school year is now over, ended better than expected :D
But in this time I was not inactive based on GameDesign etc.
I started modeling a Vehicle based on a Tutorial by CGCookie, have done some models
for Biohazard X: Source (a great HL2 Mod) and did alot on the topic Game Design in general.
Therefore I want to use my blog more or less as an article space about Game Design (different topics
like Character Depth, StoryLine etc.) and OffTopic, 3D, painting stuff etc.
So a little question, what do you think about the background image? ;)
So I stop writing some bullsh*t,
as some of you may noticed I more or less stopped uploading media to my profile and
set it completely to private.
Just to clean it up from all the mess which gathered up since the account
was created and to give it a new touch.
Also I wanted to concentrate more on 3D design,
I barely can call me a Modeler if I more or less do not create new stuff and train myself.
So I locked myself into my room and made some stuff for practice,
read stuff about gamedesign and modeling, got a student copy of Maya, 3DsMax and MotionBuilder
(which will be installed when I get the new PC). Also I collected some websites
(and really professional ones as "DigitalTutors" or "design3") to get some tutorials for these tools.
Beside my work with Blender I enjoyed my holidays and my free time,
but now I get back from the summer break :P
I started modeling my first character (you may remember the Character Creation book I posted years ago)
and I finally got my ass up to work through it.
I haven't finished it yet but here you can see a little progress picture I made.
Also I started to create a little scene in Blender, well it is just about a chess play, and therefore I need a chess set.
To fill the scene I created several objects, just as a lether chair and a table. It's still not finished but I'm working on it, but the other objects are not
in a status to be shown.
In the new Blender versions a new render system was added, called "Cyclers"
which produces more accurate and realistic render than Blender's internal render engine could do.
I've played around with it and came up with these two results. One is a basic lamp where I tested the new material types (making Glass was never so easy!) and the other - more or less - abstract art was made for lighting tests.
I also created some other models like a MQ-1 Predator UAV (know from MW2) and a sniper rifle (thanks to Robbe25 for the concept). I also tested some render effects andcame up with the BluePrint Style.
The last picture shows a aircraft from WW2 made by the Japanese.
It's called Yokosuka MXY-7 or "Ohka".
I set myself a timelimit of 45h and in this time the aircraft needs to be finished.
I did it to train my workflow and get faster.
Beside the work you can see here I also did some stuff for Biohazard X: Source, a great HL2 Modification.
I hope you enjoyed this more or less new blog post, I try to write some more in the future.
I also planned the next work I want to do with Blender and do as much as I can (RL :D), so stay tuned.
And if you wonder, the [B]in the image names stands for "Blender" ;)
So hope you liked it,
Also I found a tuto of how to make new weapon models for CS:S, so I'm planning to do my own Skin/Model Pack for CS:S :)
Well, I'll do that beside my work on Biohazard X: Source (great HL2 mod!), where I do some models. :D
Have a nice day guys.
Yeah, today I compiled my first model to source!
Like the result, and now I know why everyone hates compiling models to source :DDDDDD
Here is my result, you can also check the vid description for more infos :D
Too lazy to write something because noone cares about the blog D:
I just started working with the Source Enginge, because I want to get more into it and learn some stuff like Model Compiling, Ironsight, Self-Illuminating Textures etc.
So I've created a little HL2EP2-Mod called "Ravenblood's Source Practice" and today I've messed around with the hud (a little bit :P).
I like the result, lets see what comes in the next time! (Model Compiling :P).
Here can you see my result:
I'll post a new blog when I've done something new!
Yeah, some of my fav devs :D
Not all, but some guys with cool skills :D :
and here specially:
Generall Artists and alrounder:
Well, I think all of them have great skill and talent and I/we can learn from them :D
I hope I didnt forget someone, if I'll edit the blog.
Greetings and have a nice day :)
I switched from mapping with Source to mapping with the Crytek Sandbox 2 Editor for Crysis :)
Some cool stuff, love the editor and what you can do. :D
Its sooo cool. And there are so many mods outthere :)
Its so easy to create basic maps and you can do so many things with it.
Haha luv it :D
Yeah, here are some mods I've missed in the MOTY (players choice):
I think all of these mods are soo awesome and deserved a place in the MOTY awards.
Anyway, this are not all mods I like, but few of them.
