Oh yes, it's going strong.
Stellar Assault is planned to be stand-alone also, though release is still a way off.
thats because it is Freespace 2. Our Hud is in the process of being redesigned, but for now, the FS2 hud will do.
When this project is done you won't even need to own freespace 2. Stellar Assault will be fully stand-alone.
That particular cap-ship will most likely see a redesign soon. Textures and all. However, a clean painted look is exactly what we are going for. Nearly all recent space games (from '97 onward), have a "scrap heaps-in-space" look to them. For us, we are taking a different route, and instead going for a "race-cars-in-space" look. That means, clean paint, bright colors, and a sleek design.
I am fully aware this might not sit well with some of the more hard-core fans of the genre, but I think it will help attract new blood.
This is an actual screenshot. The Hud hasn't been modified yet.
That is a damn nice remodel there smoth. I like.
Actually, in the game's story, the Delmmer DID have a primary cannon in the beak. But since their first encounter with Human Carrier warfare, and the humiliating defeat resulting from it, they converted 85% of their Delmmers into micro-carriers. As a rapid reaction to the way humans fight. These Mini-Carrier Delmmers serve as a way for the Veslans to experiment with Carrier warfare, and to prepare pilots for their upcoming dedicated Carrier design, the Ganazula Class.
That's actually kinda the idea. We haven't produced any of our own skyboxes yet, but for the missions taking place out of Sol, we'll be following a lot of cues from Homeworld, at least stylistically. If you ever played the PDS mod for HW2, that should give you an idea for how we plan to have the action play out.
