There is no need to install Vulkan renderer separately as it's now part of the Undying Renewal mod.

Update: So I completed the game and during the gameplay still encountered minor lags in some places, even with all textures resized 2x, but less than without downsizing. I tried to downsize textures even more and still had few lags. Now I suspect that this issue might have something to do not only with individual texture sizes, but also with amount of loaded upscaled textures.

I did it quickly in order to play the game, but it is hardly optimized the best way. Hopefully next versions of your pack will have it sorted out.

Thanks for reply. Yes, it could be engine/renderer related, but there are 4K HD packs for some UE1 games so hard to tell why Undying has such problems. Anyway, I resized textures down 2X with Optimizer Textures (Ordenador) from Nexus Mods and places I tested were without lagging and seemed to me still good looking in comparison with unresized textures.

Nice pack, but it causes small random noticeable lags during gameplay. My system is not a problem, I have i5-6600, GTX 1660 6GB VRAM, 16GB RAM and SSD. Undying runs fine without ESRGAN pack and I can also run hardware demanding games as Watch Dogs Legion on medium details without problems. I might try to resize textures as recommended but presume that many users will have this issue and it is not practical that everyone does it separately. Akven, could you please optimize this pack a bit or release optional less demanding lite version?

I'm glad that there is finally a possibility to create high-res textures for Undying, the game looks quite bad without them. I think that with a nice high-res pack the positives will far outweigh some missing features. Still it would be nice to add them in the future.

q321 - - 30 comments @ Half-Life Source Ray Tracing + AI Upscale Full Walkthrough

This looks great, best looking HL1 so far, but some objects (like various control panels, monitors, gauges, chargers, some parts of the doors etc.) in original game are so low-res that they look blurry and low-res even after AI upscaling. I think that these objects would need to be redrawn from scratch if they should look as good as the rest of environment.

Update: I completed recently added Xen in Black Mesa and I while I liked most parts, some seemed to me not too good as for example some abundant cable puzzles. So both the original game and Black Mesa have some pros and cons.

Thanks for reply. I tried original+alternative upscale pack by Cyril Paulus and your textures seemed to me better looking and I also encountered no glitches and missing textures like with the alternative pack. Also I had some game crashes with the original (not sure if it was texture pack related). So I prefer your pack after comparing it. About Xash3D problems: Fullscreen glitch is probably graphics card related. Gamepad support for DualShock is not optimal in Xash3D, but with Steam launcher I was still able to complete the game with gamepad. Your info about the console is fine, I overlooked that part, still not sure what went wrong with noclip though. The bugs I encountered in On A Rail and Apprehension are random. I went to an even older save in Apprehension and this time the door opened normally.

q321 - - 30 comments @ Half-Life: ReSrced (HD Graphics Mod)

I agree that some textures would benefit from manual touch as the source is often just too low res. Some places with this HD patch looked nice but some worse and some just ugly (for example the train details in the "On A Rail" chapter etc.). It would be lots of work though and I also realized during the gameplay that this game aged quite badly not only in the graphics area. I came back for nostalgic reasons as I played it when it was released bud sadly did not enjoy it much now as some gaming mechanics seemed to me just annoying. Black Mesa is IMHO much better way to experience Half-Life today as it improves lots of original flaws. On the contrary, I recently played Hexen and Heretic with HD textures in Doomsday Engine and it was great experience. Mechanics in these games were simpler than in Half-Life and that simplicity still works quite well today without need for major revamping.

Leaufai, the game looks great with your HD textures but playing was unfortunately bad experience for me because of Xash3D problems. These are not your fault but I will put here my experience for other players what they may encounter. I have Steam version of original Half-Life and Windows 10.
When I started the game after installing, the fullscreen did not work correctly regardless of the game settings (picture was only seen in the part of the screen). I solved it with "override high DPI scaling behaviour: application" in the game shortcut properties after looking for a solution on the net.
Then the gamepad (I use DS4) did not work at all in the game. So I used Steam launcher that has the gamepad support to enable it, but movement drifted sometimes in the game without moving the stick (and changing the deadzone in Steam settings did not help). Also the gamepad binding was partially lost sometimes (I still do not know what triggers it, seems just entering the keys binding menu in the game).
Then I encountered gamebreaking bugs: After launching the rocket in the chapter "On A Rail" and going back to rails the doors that should be open were closed so I needed to replay that part from previous save.
I had similar problem in the Apprehension chapter - the door to the scientist that is in the small room next the freezer did not open but this time replaying from the previous save did not help. I used noclip to skip the door (after searching the net again how to enable console in Xash3D: the program must be run with -console parameter) but did not find the way how to disable it. In the original Half-Life entering noclip again to console does the trick. Here it did nothing.
I realized that I spend more time solving the problems with Xash3D than playing the game so I decided to quit. I found the alternative upscale mod just for the original game without Xash3D and will try rather that instead.

Yes, according to M210 it is a problem with polymost renderer in BloodGDX. This is probably impossible to fix without a new renderer, otherwise M210 would already make it. But creating of new renderer will take a very long time, so some sort of temporary patch for Death Wish on map side would be helpful (if it is doable and not too demanding as was the case of E2M8).

BloodGDX 0.780 fixed graphics glitch in E2M8 but there is still problem at the end of E2M1 goo.gl/qb6AkT . Could not replacing slope with flat surface help in this case?

Yes, BloodGDX is great. I would recommend also trying graphics upscale pack for BloodGDX by Phredreeke, the game looks nice with it: goo.gl/hPp3S8
There are not many rendering bugs, but reported glitch in E2M8 is pretty bad and fixing it in BloodGDX needs new renderer which could take lots of time. Would you consider to create a patch that would alter the map as a temporary solution?

I hope that it will be fixed by map alteration in next release of Death Wish. I play Blood only with BloodGDX now as overall experience is much superior to playing in DOSBox and E2M8 looks really bad with this bug.

There are not many issues in BloodGDX (so far I played episodes 1 and 2). I reported glitches I found to BloodGDX author but I think it would be also useful if author of the mod tested it with BloodGDX. He can find glitches players could overlook and report why he thinks they are happening which would be useful for fixing them.

Thanks for reply. b) Yes, only at the end of the mission. Here are screenshots of the place on BloodGDX forum, maybe it is a port's bug: Goo.gl
As I continue playing, I noticed also this problem: When I jumped over posts with lanterns in water in e2m4 and tried to use skull key, Caleb just said "I need a key" although I had it.

This is best mod for Blood I know with clever level desing and great atmosphere. I'm at second episode in BloodGDX and all works mostly fine. Here are few remarks:
a) I hope that author will test this mod in BloodGDX before next release to ensure everything works. I'm sure that M210, author of BloodGDX, will be willing to help if there are some problems that need fix on port side. BloodGDX is IMHO currently best way to play Blood.
b) I have badly corrupted sky graphics at the end of e2m1.
c) Some places in this mod are so dark that I cannot see anything. For example path out of core after getting moon key in e2m3. I would prefer a bit more visibility.
d) If I forget to take spider key in e2m3 from dead body and leave the room, I cannot go back as the doors are locked. Is it a bug or am I missing something?
e) While the mod is great, speech in cutscenes is really bad. :-) I think that voice of some actor should be used or only music and text could be there.
That is all, looking forward to next release.
