What are the advantages and disadvantages of playing this mod under 227, as opposed to OldSkool (graphics, multiplayer, skins, weapons, hardware compatibility..)?

"esc" will skip the cutscenes.

I'm playing the mod and so far am very impressed. I have two hardware issues. My rig is a WinXP sp3 32bit desktop, 4GB 1333MHz RAM, E8500 core2duo, Nvidia GTX260 1GB, Cornerstone crt 1280x1024.

1.) I turned off all of sikkmod features. Otherwise, game looks brilliant but crawls along. I attribute this to the older, entry-level graphics card, which can execute all advanced graphics functions but doesn't have power to do so at a decent frame rate. Either I replace the card, drop res, or live with it. The game still looks good. I accept this.

2.) Activating dual core mode causes major graphics glitches, more if sikkmod is on, but still present if sikkmod off. This is a pity. The E8500 is a powerful core2duo, and running in dual-core mode increased Q4 framerates significantly, without any noticeable negative effects.

I don't see 2 mentioned in this forum. Any suggestions on solving it?

What a great mod! Totally new (and impressive) artwork. Huge space station to nervously explore. Well thought-out tasks. Reminds me a bit of System Shock 2. Less ammo, health, and/or tougher, smarter enemies would make this an excellent survival horror (and lengthen the game). Definitely worth downloading and playing.

A full length game, really. Played it twice. The mod overview summarises the great points. Mostly really good, professional quality maps, some huge, most have good artwork and some are beautiful. Great action. Good music. Just a pity about the voice acting and occasional Nali dodgy pathfinding. Still, a fantastic, free game.
