I'm sure I will be playing this 5 excellent games.
It is nice to see that the indie developers keep rising the bar on how a good game should be.

In my view, both games are amazing an unique.
It is the same if NS2 or Overgrowth has the first or second place, I love both equally.

No, it was not meant to be a mod but a full stand alone game. Initially started being developed on the Source engine but due to the limitations on this engine they decided to go and start their own engine, now known as Spark.

Well, IndieDB has done an awful job on the summary, they put the NS1 summary, not the NS2. And to be honest, NS2 is not an RTS game, is and FPS with and RTS twist. The only one that see the RTS side is the commander, all the other players have an FPS POV.

I think that IndieDB need better people doing the summary (aka game players), or ask directly to the developers and they sent the summary and in which category they know the game fits.

The bad side to have NS2 on this category is that players that don't know it will be confused about the game itself.

Could be great if IndieDB make a nice mention about this, because there are more and more games mixing the 2 styles, and I think is time to start talking about FPS-RTS genre.

NS1 is no longer developed since... well, since they started working on NS2.
There are no plans on a single player but who knows, perhaps after they finish NS2 they consider making a SP game based on NS2.

You can't make a single player version of NS2 due to the dynamics of the game, program the AI for that could be almost impossible, and there is no point on getting the multiplayer experience reduced to a single player, is better to make a new thing based on this one.

They want to release the game on other platforms (Mac and Linux) but it will take a long time due to the game being developed with DirectX, so porting that to OpenGL takes some time.
I wish they can release it for Linux.

Is not single player, only multiplayer due to the dynamics of the game. Making all that into an AI could be almost impossible. Who knows, perhaps in the future they manage to make it, but is so complex that only the AI could take 5 years of development, if not more.

On a 56kbps connection, like any other modern game, is almost unplayable.

Don't worry, the people behind Warsuop are great and they know their game is not the first FPSRTS (actually they told me this), and that they borrowed the idea and make it on a new game, which I found great too.
I do find interesting that many game developers are getting more into this new style of games, mixing different styles in one.

LOL
IndieDB classified NS2 as RTS, and that is only 1 aspect of the game but basically is an FPS.

The RTS part is only for the commander.

Yes, the game is still beta (just 2 weeks) and is under heavy development.
I mean, it will be added in time. Right now UWE is focus on bug fixes and adding the features that are not in yet.

Easy, all the games have minimum requirements, and this is not an exception.
Like with any other game, this minimum is that, a minimum. That means that the game will run but you can not expect a good performance on this minimum.

Right now I play it on Ridiculously awful graphic settings and it looks like this (of course, video encoding make it worst):
Youtube.com (see a test video I did)
For a better look check out NS2HD channel: Youtube.com
