I started modding right around your age, and joined City 17 a little over a year later. I didn't go to school for it or watch any tutorial videos. I just sat down with the code and the Valve Developer Wiki in-front of me and started doing/learning whatever I could.

If that's something you want to do, stick with it. Everything gets better with experience, and you never know where it might take you later in life.

That's fantastic to hear! We had a system that would rename the shaders in VMT files in order to get hammer working, as textures with custom shaders would break when viewing maps in hammer.

There should be a batch file or something similar in the material folder that will restore the VMT files to their proper shaders.

If this works for you I'll release a patch that does this for everyone.

Take some screenshots when you finally get in-game ;)

It's a little interesting that you got it to run at all. There's an anti-leak crash in those compiled binaries based on the current Steam user and Steampipe to deal with.

I imagine you're using a cracked copy of HL2 to play it (Or haven't updated any games in a long time)? Either way, it sounds like perhaps one of the texture files is missing or a shader isn't working on your GPU. You said you changed some of the settings before it went full pink? I'd look through the console. Most of our graphical options are under r_post_*

Otherwise, just delete your cfg files in the SourceMod directory and try loading it again. If you manage to identify which one option turns everything pink for you I can give you better advice on how to fix it.

I've gone ahead and completely removed the anti-leak checks from github. If someone builds it and fixes gameinfo.txt the mod should work w/ FaceAPI libraries installed.

There may have been some anti-leaking tech built in, and things like FaceAPI required pre-installed libraries.

You have the full source code, so I'm positive it can be fixed if someone has a couple hours to give. I'll most likely be pushing commits to GitHub to clean these things up over the coming weeks.

You can (Or could if mod was fixed for recent engine changes) finish roughly half of the campaign without voice acting or scenes.
The other half is there in bits and pieces.

Lots of test content to see.

It may be called "City 17: Episode 9000 (Dev)" if my memory serves me right.

Steampipe and recent engine updates have not been kind to the mod. It'll take a bit of work to get it running again. The source code is available if you're feeling adventurous.

Both the gloves and the sleeve have been adjusted since this screenshot. The gloves now use our dedicated fabric shader and are no longer shiny, and the sleeves have been completely remodeled.

But, I just love this screenshot. Regardless of the changes, I just had to put it up. Couldn't easily recreate it.
