Duke Nukem Forever 2013

Mod review may contain spoilers

The overall concept is nice, trying to recreate DNF2001 in Build engine, but the problem is with the technical quality of this mod. The levels are full of badly placed invisible walls, especially the highway. Then there are various rendering issues and poorly textured skyboxes in certain parts.

The biggest issue I have with this mod are stolen assets and "creative liberties". This mod uses tons of stolen assets such as the music from Battlefield 3 during final boss fight.

About creative liberties... let me elaborate.
This mod does often not even stick to the source material. For example they replaced the Ripper chaingun with an M16A1 that looks almost nothing like the one from the 2001 trailer. The 2001 trailer one actually had a scope and a grenade launcher instead of being just a simple M16A1 with an american flag on it.
Or the alien parasites are just reskinned slimers that look nothing like the ones in the original trailer and the total lack of civillians infected with the parasites. The biggest differences come in levels though.

The overall levels have very idiotic progression, literally throwing tons of random scenes from 2001 trailer at you at once at times (for example the EDF HQ first has the general's speech and then suddenly you meet the Terminator-like robots a few minutes later and they seem very out of place). The levels are often overly big and ambitious while containing really nothing of interest and tons of invisible walls as I mentioned before.

The humour in this mod is terrible. It is trying too hard to be funny with idiotic toilet jokes about Donkeys towards the end.

I gotta admit, this mod does have some highlights like that epic motorcycle chase in the addon pack or the atmospheric beginning, but ultimately it just does not work out as the overall aspects barely mix together.

Wolfenstein - Blade of Agony

Mod review

This mod is amazing. Well optimised , yet the graphics are stunning. The soundtrack borrowed from Medal of Honor , which builds up the atmosphere even more. Oldschool gameplay and interesting bosses. Cannot wait for chapter 2.
