Hi there everyone! I am MaceCrusherMadunusus, I started modding roughtly 8 years ago on a game called Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy. I joined the Movie Battles II team in order to create many new, unique, and interactive locations as well as to update some existing levels. Soon after, the sequel to Movie Battles II, Movie Battles II was started, and I am now working within UDK to create some more epic Movie Battles locations!

After the source release of JKA and the upcoming 10 year anniversary of MB, we are currently focusing efforts on improving MBII visually.

A lot of us have shifted focus back to MBII for the time being because of the source release for JKA. Though, MB3 will always be slow on content updates. We don't like showing early stuff if we dont have to!

Not entirely, it was actually pretty close to a cliff side on the back end. This image is likely a little misleading towards the positions of things. Look carefully and you will notice that isn't the exact layout of the homestead :P

Don't worry, this is all free and educational. It partially lies in the public domain. In addition to that, you cannot copyright a person (Harrison Ford) and his likeness.

I wouldn't worry too much about it so long as we are free :)

It was almost finished by the time this all happened. It was roughly 95% finished. Two months ago I handed it off to another developer so that they could see what they could do to finish it off. They have made progress based off the beta feedback threads, but I do not know more than that.

I really hope that I will be back soon, but I cannot guarantee anything.

Hey man, sorry for the lack of updates to the ModDB pages.

For some reason, it seems like I am the only one able to update the page and I am not sure why.

Over the past 6 of the 7 months without an update I have been going through some serious real life issues, and hadn't even gotten on ModDB for 4 of those months. It made posting updates to this really difficult. As dodgethis said below in October, the WIP site on our thread is updated whenever developers feel like posting their WIPs. There has been more updates than what is in that thread, but I only update what developers want to post.

I apologize for the lack of updates here, seriously. I really wish I could get back into the swing of things and back into developing and posting updates, but life is still insanely difficult. Please bear with us!

I have passed my maps off to the MB devs, and they are working on getting them finished. It likely wont be up to my quality, but its the best we can do right now. They will be released though.

It isn't really financial trouble at all... its far worse if you actually think about it. I am struggling financially, but there are more important things to worry about like my mental health and stability, not going to jail, etc.

Yeah, why would we anyway? UDK still seems better in my opinion. The default abilities and feel of the engine alone give us a large basis for the original feel of the game.

Sure CE3 has real time lights, but UDK handles a lot more environment types better and can use the same real time lights while in DX11. Plus, Sandbox editors suck IMO. Always hated using them, they feel so restricting. And UDK is able to be run by a wider variety of people as well. The CE3 editor's UI has always been more painful than UDKs as well to me. I haven't particularly had fun using it.

Haha, I think everyone is. We are still waiting on at least one map to be in a "completed" enough state for the first alpha release.

Since I am in charge of that, and fairly busy, it will likely be sometime late summer unless I can get it done faster.

I agree with this. I would love to see a standalone FS2. Such that it isn't restricted so much by the cruddy battlefield sandbox engine.

Thanks @ Hakre :). <3 FW too :)

I guess I need to clarify myself a little. I loved the gameplay of first strike itself. It was really fun, and I played it competitively for a bit.

However, 4+ months to fix the CTDs that happened every 10 minutes on the mods first releases was not timely (Yes, there were intermittent "fixes" but they didn't help much). That, coupled with EA killing 2142 itself for me (By ruining my favorite features: IE Gunship) kinda turned me off. So it isn't entirely the mods fault.

It was really fun to play, never said it wasn't but the glitches/bugs that were game breaking turned quite a people off... as if there were no testers.

The features you listed are not unique. Other battlefield mods (Such as Project Reality, Forgotten Hope, etc) have SP and Co-op. Combined arms is something I have yet to hear of, so not quite sure what it is. The many vehicles... quality =/= quantity. Guess that is the problem I have seen with battlefield mods, is that theyre about quantity of models, and maps. Probably why I got turned off by PR eventually as well because I couldn't learn the maps fast enough.

Another disclaimer is that I likely get the same experiences I do in first strike out of my own mod; including space fighting. So my point is likely a little moot.

Regardless, I am not saying that FS is a bad mod at all, its actually pretty good. Just explained why I left (Along with a few others).

Thats because on the first few releases, when there was tons of population, there were tons of bug, crashes, random glitches, performance issues etc. They were not fixed fast enough (3+ major releases I think) and it killed the community off from the start.

(I was one of them)

I haven't seen anything truly unique to make me want to come back either.

Looks great, I would rotate the pillar props a little randomly because there is some slightly visible tiling.

Also, the textures/materials in the background on the left look a little dull compared to the rest.

Other than that, great work :)
