Hi there everyone! I am MaceMadunusus, I started modding roughly 10 years ago on a game called Star Wars: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy. I joined the Movie Battles II team in order to create many new, unique, and interactive locations as well as to update some existing levels. Soon after, the sequel to Movie Battles II, Movie Battles II was started, and I am now working within UE4 to create some more epic Movie Battles locations!

I would say that we aren't. We either create all of our own stuff internally (Don't steal like KOTF does). If we would like to use something not created by us, it is done with permission and credit (see readme).

Not only that, but we do not use EXE installation, so you don't have to worry about viruses at all that way.

Everything has always been free regarding movie battles as well, its been going for over 10 years now, and we have only ever had to ask for donations once totaling $180 which was used to keep the site running and development functioning all these years because webspace, source control, and official servers do cost us money. The donation button was immediately removed after we had met our goal to keep development running. You don't need to send us a single cent if you would like to play, so long as you have jedi academy of course.

Movie Battles isn't something that cropped up recently, if there were any scams or viruses, it would be well known by now. However, we have been running for 10 years without such complaints!

Hey guys, we are going to be upgrading hardware and software on the MovieBattles.com site over the next few days. You will be noticing downtime in the process.

The main site and development tools are already moved, and forums are being moved to the new hardware now, and a software update scheduled for tomorrow.

Either installed or ran MB2 incorrectly.

Make sure you are running the game through the .bat file, or by using +set fs_game "MBII" in a shortcut through steam on your computer.

DO NOT start through the mod menu.

That should work but you can also just drag and drop it straight from the zip folder into gamedata. Should save a step.

Moddb.com Download this, drop it in your gamedata folder, and use the Play_MBII.bat file to start it.

It is a multiplayer mod, so it will not have anything to do with your campaign, no need to worry about that!

There is currently a crash there. We have an a fix already for it, but are waiting on a few other crash fixes before we do a patch.

However, there is a temporary fix for the one at that location that you can get here: Dropbox.com

replace the MBAsset2.pk3 in the MBII folder with this, and you should be good.

MaceMadunusus Jul 21 2014, 3:56pm replied:

Did you have a version of Movie Battles prior to this?

Usually problems like that are animation related to the location of the mb_baseassets.pk3. As long as it is in your MBII folder and you're launching like you said you are, it should be fine. However, prior to V1, the MB_Baseassets.pk3 was in the base folder, which means it might be overwriting the file due to its location. Check to be sure it isn't there if you have installed MB2 before.

DOTFV2 revamp was postponed along with a number of other things (Conquest, CC, etc.) because I was having a lot of personal issues and I was the one working on those tasks... It took two years, but those issues are slowly resolving and I have started work on things again. CC being the first finished. You will be seeing a release this summer.

MaceMadunusus Jul 11 2014, 12:21pm replied:

CC is going good, and will be released really soon. I wouldn't say its an exact replicate of the movie version, since I based it on the old layout, but is definitely inspired by it.

Lets say, CC is coming in weeks, not months at this point. I do know the exact date, but I am not saying as we want it to be a surprise and that we don't want to disappoint anyone in case we do have to push it back.

MaceMadunusus Jul 11 2014, 12:16pm replied:

It isn't recommended to start MB2 with the mod menu as it usually causes conflicts with other mods that may be present.

I would recommend starting MB2 with the Play_MBII.bat file that is provided (a short cut to it also works). If you don't have one, simply creating a text file, adding this: start jamp.exe +set fs_game "MBII" and saving it as Play_MBII.bat and double clicking it should work fine.

If you are on steam, I believe you can just modify the target with +set fs_game "MBII" to do the same.

It was almost finished by the time this all happened. It was roughly 95% finished. Two months ago I handed it off to another developer so that they could see what they could do to finish it off. They have made progress based off the beta feedback threads, but I do not know more than that.

I really hope that I will be back soon, but I cannot guarantee anything.

Hey man, sorry for the lack of updates to the ModDB pages.

For some reason, it seems like I am the only one able to update the page and I am not sure why.

Over the past 6 of the 7 months without an update I have been going through some serious real life issues, and hadn't even gotten on ModDB for 4 of those months. It made posting updates to this really difficult. As dodgethis said below in October, the WIP site on our thread is updated whenever developers feel like posting their WIPs. There has been more updates than what is in that thread, but I only update what developers want to post.

I apologize for the lack of updates here, seriously. I really wish I could get back into the swing of things and back into developing and posting updates, but life is still insanely difficult. Please bear with us!

I have passed my maps off to the MB devs, and they are working on getting them finished. It likely wont be up to my quality, but its the best we can do right now. They will be released though.

It isn't really financial trouble at all... its far worse if you actually think about it. I am struggling financially, but there are more important things to worry about like my mental health and stability, not going to jail, etc.

MaceMadunusus Dec 12 2011, 12:21pm replied:

A lot of content has already been built with DX11 in mind. A few developers (such as myself) are used to the old Quake 3 engine for MB2 which means we aren't fully acquainted with DX11 quite yet.

I am still building with DX11 in mind as much as possible. For now though, only my laptop has a DX11 GPU. My Desktop which I do most development on has only a dx10 card. That makes DX11 a little harder to develop for on my end.

Regardless, that still being said you will likely see DX11 content in MB3. That likely wont be right away, but will most certainly be the case in the future.

1) Sure thats what you see in the film. But have you ever played Galactic Battlegrounds? Sev'rance Tann DOES have a Yellow saber, and she was a character created for that game.

I had it as red originally, till I played the game again and found she had a yellow saber. So it is 100% correct.

2)I always include bot support in MP maps. Yeah OJP can be a bit more stable saber system. But I like MB2s more, its simple and to the point, not choosing 500 things for certain things.. then getting others... its just D;

For the amount of fighting that happens throughout the map, the framerate is pretty good.

Most of the testers playing have atleast 60fps with 5000 series nvidia cards. Theres a few that even run on integrated GFX. The map is fully hinted and VIS optimized. It should run pretty good for most people :)
