Why scaling is so important in Elder Scrolls -type games is that those games are practically endless. You can grind forever, so scaling is needed to keep the challenge, since there is only so much content you can develop.

In Gothic there's only so many quests to do and mobs to kill. Personally I never felt like the amount of content should be stretched out, there's plenty to do in Gothic II, not to mention the amount of extra content this mod is adding to the table. What a joke would it be to do all that can be done, only to find that your character remains weak as ever...

Boss stat scaling is a dangerous idea... Not even considering the value of such a feature or the initial effort required to implement it, the additional work (back&forth; between play testers) to actually make the scaling balanced can turn out to be enormous...

I hadn't tried the mod out for a couple of versions, looks like a lot has improved! Might make it a project later this summer, when I have more time. As for the voice, of all the voice options the one already in the mod was most appealing to me.

But...

To be perfectly blunt, because that's what I do, I would prefer if they weren't there. Reason being the fact that while they are better then the alternatives from the poll it just doesn't sound like NH, thus impacting my immersion. This is just my first hand experience though, I'm sure I would get used to them if I actually did a play-through, so it's not that big of a deal for me.

The thing I tried to say before was that while some will recognize it as an improvement or have a neutral response, some WILL dislike it. Those with a positive or neutral view on it will meld it into their experience, hardly noticing it as they keep playing, but those who just dislike it will occasionally be annoyed by it.

I think this is called negativity bias (wikipedia), people tend to focus on the negative, and that's why I think it's better to leave it out of the mod. Of course adding it as an option is the best course of action, but I'm assuming that's a load of work for a leaf feature.

Now to maximize controversy, I think running out of stamina 'out of breath' voice should be there. That's new feature altogether, and vocal notification for it is a good idea. Since it's just breathing it's easier to match with the NH's voice and it won't be breaking anyones immersion. I do find the current sound for it a bit too... low quality? As if it was crackling, maybe it was just too loud for my setup.

Keep up the good work! Might be I'll be playing with this mod when I reminisce the good ol' days with Gothic 30 years from now.

None of the voices fit Nameless Hero at all in my opinion. I agree with uldis, though I find it to have a pretty bad work/gain ratio. If you do it; some will like it, some won't care, some will tolare it, some will hate it. If you don't... pretty much nobody will mind or miss it (nothing to miss).

The enemies let out a sound when they get hit, and so does the nameless hero. It works. The enemies do scream when they attack and the player doesn't, but the player knows when he is attacking anyway and you can hear the swing, so no need to add any battle screams to that, its just excessive.

There is a way to fight zombies in melee without getting hit, though it's a bit difficult. Keep at it. Orc warriors are stupidly tough, no way around that.

I was planning on giving complete feedback once I complete the game, but since chapter 5 crashes... I guess I'll write my findings and thoughts this weekend.

Is there a way to avoid this crash?
