What you are referring to is the pre-release intro, which indeed did destroy the Sol system. However, officially in Freelancer nobody has said anything concrete as to what has happened to Sol.

The mod is indeed fun, if you aren't raped by one single bigro, why can that thing take out 4 destroyers, 2 battleships, peagusus, 2 carriers and like 30 mobile suits all without so much as dent in its armor?

Love the mod, just noticed quite a few bugs:

Heroic (Star) Multigunner Turrets lose thier automatic ability to target aircraft and have to be manually targeted.

The range circle presented by promoted defenses is far larger than the actual range of the defense.

The war mammoths roar doesn't seem to affect anything at least based on what the description says.

Not a bug probably: A single bunker with 3 conscripts and 2 flak troopers can stop just about anything except war mammoths and kriovs and unit spam.

I'd just like to throw out some suggestions for the "OFF" version (Which is very good as is, but I noticed a few things that screw certain sides over)

With the Allied Aircraft Upgrade unavailible it makes the allies much weaker, so weak that a VX defender can actually take out a vindi, and a flak cannon needs like 4 shots to kill one.

The Japanese lose thier enhanced navy upgrades which make them too easy to counter. Same with the enhanced rocket upgrade, the japanese anti air is seriously nerfed and can barely kill soviet and japanese aircraft and the harbinger.

The Soviets don't seem to be affected much by OFF in fact, I think that they benefit by being able to kill the other sides faster. (I do realize this mod is soviet themed, but it is supposed to try and balance)

My suggestion is to add back in protocol points, but remove all "offfensive" support powers (Stuff that affects the enemy negatively) and replace them with "Support" powers that benefit your side.

These could be as simple as "Increase firepower for xxx units" or speed upgrades or armor upgrades, I'm sure it will take tweaking to get balanced but thats my suggestion.

Also, the ChronoTank and Greater King Oni are a tad bit overpowered being able to hit everything, Either modify them or give the soviets an all round hitter. (Add missiles to apocalypse? (Apoc mk 2?))
