Beryl is a Polish evolution of basic Soviet AKM design. Adopted in late 1990s, Beryl is chambered for NATO 5.56x45mm "small caliber, high velocity" round, used by such firearms as M16, M4, FN Minimi/M249. Beryl was proven to be a reliable and accurate weapon, with years of service on demanding battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. It's final iteration - model 1996C - was introduced in 2009 and allows use of Picatinny rail mounted accessories.
