I'm an ex-student working on my portfolio. I really should have done more while I was at uni, but hey thats life. I think the direction I am going for is environment artist, ergo the corpious amounts of environment objects that I will/post up.
Well this is the door finished. It may get a couple of tweaks to the colour, but not until I get everything else done for my scene.
that looks really cool, i cant seem to get my textures to look as realistic as that.
Thanks. Well I have put lots of hours of practice into it over the last couple of months. You should see the crap I was doing then. I am still finding spec maps are a bit of a pain, but they are getting there.
Nice.
Thanks.
I actually really like the door.
Its the tiny buttons low to the floor that get me.
Unless the door is much bigger or I'm missing something?
The 'paper note' harshly contrasts the door's sci-fi look.
Just an idea, a more reasonable look would be to have a printed piece of paper inside a plastic covering. If that makes sense?
Well there is actually a reason for the buttons being low to the floor. The background to the scene I am creating involves a looney robot space pirate who has a stuffed animal crew. So by his thinking the crew needs to be able to access the doors, even if in reality they sit around doing nothing. After all they are stuffed animals.
The paper note was a little bit of an after thought. If I did it again I would look more at what I wanted to fill the space, but as it is I think it does well enough.
Look good ! nice work dude
