Ho hum,
Still no new screenies...
I know..How about a refresher on the key differences between the first two games..Something to read when you've re checked the site for the seventh time this week.
I'll just focus on features in Deus Ex that I missed in Deus ex 2 and new stuff that actually worked well for the second game.

Realistic Ammunition..I hated DX2 Unified Ammo..It just subtracted so much from pickups..There's nothing quite like chancing upon a box 30.06 or WP rockets,Unified Ammo ruined that.
Map sizes..
Deus Ex 2's map sizes were horribly chopped up.
I hate loading screens..The console release tended to negotiate what way a lot of the the second game's features were implemented. We were left with an over simplified experience.More RPG lite than it's predecessor.
The Hud and skill systems,or lack of one, were casualties of the console player appeasement taking hold throughout development.
I didn't like the way JC Denton became a megalomaniacal Douche at the end of the second game.
I always wind up shooting him in the face with a modified sniper rifle for his blatant intrusion on human privacy. But only after softening him up with rockets and emps usually.
The story...Whilst Alex D's tale isn't bad per say,It just lacks some of the headier elements of the original game...The bombing of The Statue Of Liberty,Sinking a ship full of virus,Betraying The Corrupt Unatco,Waking up in The MJ12 facility etc...The second game wasn't quite as iconic in it's story or pacing.
Despite these flaws I think Deus ex 2 had some strong points and I replayed it more than a few times..I liked the lighting system, real time shadows are always nice.I liked the ragdoll physics and Karma physics system for ingame characters and models..I spent many a happy moment throwing Boxes or bodies at physiqued light, watching with rapt attention as the swinging light cast wild shadows from the falling object...I liked some of the weapons,The Boltcaster and rocket launcher spring to mind. The Magrail was useful.I liked that you could hunker beside a maintenance droid and send an emp probe in to mop up all electronic security and it would constantly repower your mods.I liked the spider grenades and some of the secondary functions on the weapons..The air hanger level in New Delhi was good..I liked the hidden unique weapons too.flame boltcaster always brought a smile to the party.I'd give it about 8 to 8.5 out of 10.I'd give deus ex a 9.3 to 9.5.
So all in all I think Deus Ex IW gets a bum deal from the reviewer,
It's a very good game, just not a truly great game.
Caustic....
Please release screenies.....
This isn't normal behaviour for a normal nearly 40 year old.
We need a hit..Some nice Liberty Island Shots...or a Unatco Interior,It would take you ten minutes..Come on guys..
Guys..
Are you there ,guys?

Nice.My guesstimate saya Christmas Release....personally,I am happy to wait a few more months.Checking this page is a regular part of my browsing pattern now.Squenix should make an anniversary edition of Deus Ex,similar to what 343 studios have done with Halo. But then again,I supppose, that this is the whole point of Revision.Besides....the engines and artistic style between the games are wildly different.
Looking forward to it.

Yes,developers need to return to rpg roots with this sort of game, including all of the various menu systems ,hot keys, map and data screens and hotkeys.
Yes,the simplification of rpgs makes them more accessible to console players, but the overall experience of the dumbing down is a negative one...

I started playing pc games around 2000
System Shock 2,which Warren Spector also worked on,was an early favorite of mine...This game despite its flaws regarding difficulty and level balancing,I always thought was more advanced than Half Life in a lot of ways....If only because of smoother graphics, deep rpg elements and the psychotic Shodan, which inspired the marvelously murderous GLADOS from Portal,IMHO
Half Life did grow on me though and is admittedly in many ways the better game. The AI is more inventive and you are less likely to get stuck because of decisions made earlier.
Deus Ex is as good as Half Life, better in some ways, not as good in others..And a true spiritual successor to System Shock 2.
Although I like the Bioshock series,I can't help but feel that the series has been dumbed down somewhat.System Shock 3 with a return to complex rpg elements and a favoring of PC systems over consoles is what's needed in the pc gaming industry..

I'm just wondering if we can have a few screenshots while waiting, particularly of the first few levels...Some of Liberty Island, Battery park,New York Streets...
Shouldn't be a deal breaker to release around 6 new screenies,it would keep the whiners hosed down for a while anyway.
What I'd also love to see is a comment from one of the creators divulging as much information as legal ground with Square allowed..regarding projected release, and extent of new features and what has been happening with the team in the wait for Square to get on the ball..
This mod is going to be great.
I know it will.

Still Patiently waiting for this mod,I don't mind waiting asI know it is in the Hands of Square Enix now and that the team have done an exemplary job at producing the mod and keeping their fanbase up to date with developments.Bjorn was more than reasonable with me when I asked him about the Deus Ex Revision Framework, divulging much appreciated info on the mod's facebook page, and the team posted new screenies when I asked them to..They have worked very hard on this project for the past few years and have gone above and beyond what is expected of a mod developer regarding progress updates and feedback for fans,The mod is done,They may still be tweaking it while awaiting Square Enix to get back to them,But they have done all this for free so you moaners might be able to enjoy Deus Ex with a new perspective,I for one am very grateful for that,So cut the guys some slack...Caustic rules,Meanwhile, while you're waiting, check out this trailer for Mankind Divided..

So looking forward to this mod..
The Original Deus Ex trumps all other games in the series,Square Enix would do well to get back to the old style of game, albeit in a newer engine.
I've actually being playing Deus Ex in the last couple of weeks with GMDX,New Vision,HDTP and SweeFX..Am currently on the last section in Area 51,will finish it this evening, leaving me ready to play Revision on release. On my current Mod build of the game, the Rocket Launcher crashes when I try using the scope for some reason, some of the mirrors in game are black and the MJ12 trooper sitting animations prevent me from using the HDTP version..
I'm pretty sure the final version of Revision will have none of these issues and great levels and HUD to boot..Have you done anything with the MJ12 trooper?I realise it's someone else's work, but was kinda hoping you had asked them about it..Maybe if they swapped out the sitting anims for the MJ12 trooper with the Unatco trooper sitting anims,It could be a solution, just an idea,
Just one thing,I really would love to see a new screenshot while waiting,I've perused the ones on the mod page and even the ones on the bugfix page, any chance of a few new screenies for loyal patient fans?
I don't mind waiting until it's done right.
I'd prefer quality.

JosephMelia - - 16 comments @ Real Cars For GTA 4

Mod v.4
The handling and car weighting on this mod is disgraceful, flyaway, unrealistic and unplayable..Which is a shame because the car models are nice.It will probably be good when finished, but I'm gonna have to reinstall gta iv and patches now.The vehicles turn over at the drop of a hat and fly into the air much too readily,Until this issue is addressed,I would advise against installation..
More time looking at a download screen for patches....sigh...........

I had the same problem with mine .
This is an easy problem to fix.
While in the source engine, disable bump mapping...
to do this bring up the console and type mat_bumpmap 0
This should remove the ugly graphical artifacts.

JosephMelia - - 16 comments @ FakeFactory Cinematic Mod

I bitched about Facefactory's work on youtube a couple of times, but looking at these trailers just makes me want to play the mods. Some really amazing work here.

Ok,The characters have changed,yadda,yadda.
Point is,it's a mod.

And it looks sexy and origional.

so sorry about my earlier comments Facefactory.
You are a very gifted artist, and even if I would keep closer to the origional characters, your vision of them is beautifully realised, and your devotion to half-life 2 modding is to be applauded.

So I'll probably pick up another copy of HL2 and give this mod a go.
I love the fact that the draw distance is upped on the Bridge level.
Looking forward to it.
