It downloads as a rar file, how do I change this so that i can get a normal file in my mods folder so I can play it? Please and thank you

I played this mod last night and it ran beautifully, excellent work. However, I cant get it to work this morning. I tried "continue campaign", and also tried "load campaign" and each time it told me "Medieval 2: Tota War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit". I should mention I was only able to get the mod to run in the first place by deleting my Americas mod and renaming AOPK to Americas, and I am playing on Steam. Anyone have an idea for a solution?

Every time I download and try to unzip, it wont work because it keeps downloading as a windows media file and I cant figure out how to change that

I'm terrible with computers. What do I need to do to make it play after downloading it?

I need help please, everyone. Every time I download and try to run the mod, it takes me to some weird Windows media player window, and I can't figure out what I need to do to make it work. I just downloaded the Beta 9.5.7. I'm by no means a computer expert, just a lover of this game and the books/show Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
