4) Copyright. Often, it's not just the main mod author whose considerations are a factor - this mod uses work from a number of different artists and writers. Do they not have a say in their own work? For example, future versions of Immersive Creatures will use voice actors provided by a management agency. Under terms of the contract with the agency, only the mod author can upload the mod to approved places. Any breach of this will get the lawyers for the agency involved.
5) Mod authors often spend thousands of hours making a mod. It's their right as author to decide where a mod is uploaded - as mod users, we should be grateful that they have decided to release a mod so we can also use it - we have no "rights" to use any mod, let alone upload it elsewhere - the rights are all with the person(s) that created the mod.
If a mod author wants to put ridiculous terms on the release of his mod, then that's still his right to do so. Or do we all live in a communist society now where we all own everything? In which case, give me your motor car, I want to use it. I'll try not to bash it up too much on the racetrack.
