Description

Currently working on some concept works for a professional games studio I'm currently in probation time at. My task is to develope scenes for an earth-like planet that hasn't been touched by human nature (yet).

This is my second try, the first concept isn't even worth showing, because it isn't finished either.

I stopped here and decided to make a new approach with more thinking in advance before I start with the concept phase, because I didn't even know where to go with this concept while I was creating it.

Started with creating the black and white scene until I was happy with the values and readability of the concept, then I added color. After a while I thought that it's all quite nice, but it's lacking some interesting elements. Tried multiple things, changed the color palette and went for a more vibrant color contrast with the orange and blue, but the values didn't fit together anymore and then I decided to go back to the original version and line of thought. So, I spent some more time on the boring piece, added some water and adjusted a few things.

All in all it's put together nicely, but the compositional elements are leading nowhere and that's the big problem, the selling-point of the image is missing and I didn't do that on purpose.

I did some more research and I'm going to do another new approach, which is more experimental and rough, but still of enough quality to present.
