I really do not know how is this possible, but some new games are just better then the old ones. Just SOME of them, but there are. And I am glad for that.
I lately found a two-handed hammer...it said "20kg" on top, 2k damage with the right upgrades, so I kept it. I'm at survival level 22 though, there's still a lot of funny weapons coming for you :P
The funniest thing though is kicking zombies off the roof and all those wicked moves, for some evil reason that's why I still play the game (after weeks of playing it).
I also love the kicks from upper floors and roofs, its crazy, but hammer with 2k dmg??? I dont think its possible, I have legendary machete now, and it does only 340 dmg
The weapons level up in damage (and the types of weapons also will change) with your survival level, it's common for me to see a 1k dmg Bastard sword at the traders :) But two-handed hammers do the max damage output of all and therefore can **** your usual zombies up pretty badly :P
