At the time of this writing, Dominoze development in its current form is on hold pending research into integration with Unity3D.

Dominoze began as a concept almost nine years ago when the video game market was a different place. Up to now, it has always been a casual single-developer-with-contract-art-and-level-design-help project. Almost no effort was put into marketing, networking or advertising; and even all the game play specifics were unclear for the longest time. One could even describe it as a "here and there" programming marathon that I very much enjoyed on the side of my full time job as a medical software developer.

When I went to GDC in March of 2010, every game developer, publisher, and distributor told me the same thing: It's a great *casual* game that needs to be on a *casual* platform like web or mobile. I inferred that Dominoze is now a chess player's game when it should instead be a fast-paced, reward-oriented (in the form of watching dominoes fall) game with a lot of small puzzles and a built-in sandbox/mini-editor mode. They ultimately led me to the Unity booth where I got to sit down with other developers and share ideas.

Fast forward a few months. Now at Gamieon, we are now finalizing our first Unity3D-based physics iPhone game. I won't tell you what it's about, or exactly when it's going to be released. What I will tell you is that most of the work on the game is done, the development cycle is far shorter than Dominoze, and the critical path right now is development of the new Gamieon website. I also have ideas for two more games that may follow. This time around, there are people helping me with marketing, advertising, and networking...but everything is still happening at a leisure pace of "an hour here, an hour there" when my free time allows for it.

Once Gamieon has some experience with iPhone, Android and web-based games, I think the time will come to make Dominoze for those platforms. Here's the best part: We already have an easy-to-use content editor and an engine that does almost everything for us.
