Well, I run Iwannamap.com I'm also an active member on a fair few mods for the hl2 engine, I sat and taught myself to model using XSI and then created video tutorials to help the modding population in general. Mostly these days I don't have the time to mod that I used to, but I still put just as much effort into learning those things I don't know, so that I can produce better quality content.

Yup, the actual model was done in XSI mod tool, was then exported as an obj, I then imported it into blender and played till i got the resulting render, I was actually genuinely surprised and impressed how well it came out, especially since I've never used blender before. once you get past the initial confusing user interface, it's actually pretty decent :)

I'm not gonna get into a who said what ******** contest with you in public, you have something to say, bring it to me on msn, otherwise just give it up and go gracefully so you can "never harm the team in any way"

Eleval is one of those people that if he doesn't get his own way, he threatens the whole underlying structure of the team. he threw a pissy fit because after weeks of inactivity and of ignoring other dev's on the team, he decided to show up and wanted to pick up where he left off after his assignments had already been re-assigned, and instaed of being grown up and mature about it he threw a pissy fit, threatened to remove everyone from the forums, shut down the site and ftp etc etc and basically split the team in 2. I was willing to give him a chance but his utter lack of respect for anyone on the team and his blatent my way or the highway attitude sealed the deal for me in that he's not fit to actually be on a team, much less lead it or have any say on anything to do with it really. Honestly, he has a lot of growing up to do, and when he actually gets out into the real world and gets a real job, I think he's going to have a nasty shock coming to him if he thinks he can get away with **** like this.

We will soon be moving to another site and re setting up the forums so that he has no hold over us, at that point he will be removed from the team and hopefully we can continue with actually producing something worthwhile than actually spending all our time running around after this loser.

soon, unfortunatly real life is dragging most of us away atm and limiting the time we can spend on the mod. That said, as lucial posted earlier, we are planning a big media release soon, it's just a case of being able to get together at the same time and get the content for it. it's coming though, don't worry ;)

i haven't seen pieces blown out of zombies in this vid like in the HL1 version yet =( i hope this is gonna be in there

we tuned off the gore for this vid since we're still working on it, and this particular zombie model wasn't finished in terms of it yet, in fact, if you look closely, you can see arms being spawned as if they have been shot off in a couple of the scenes, call it an easter egg if you will ;) just to prove its being worked on LOL

we're not planning on adding ironsights, we are trying to make the weapons unique in their own right though, for example, guns like the benelli and winchester must be manually pumped between shots, it's simply a case of hitting secondary fire, but it actually makes using the weapon a lot more enjoyable, if that sounds weird then so be it, but once you get to try it out, i think you'll agree with me on that ;)

Zombie side of things will now be I think our main priority. getting the gore working properly and making sure that large numbers of them don't lag servers. you can expect another vid once the gore is fully implemented ;)

ok, lets answer a few of these comments.

first off, you've got to remember this is a work in progress, the zombies are still very early, we weren't actually going to show them at all, but the first trailer was boring without them, so we decided to just roll with it and show off what we have anyway.

All our models and sounds are original, the weapon sounds were made from scratch. The zombie sounds are taken from the original for a feel of nostalgia not from they hunger. The character models are remakes of the original characters from brainbread, so perhaps thats where you've seen them before.

The zombie animations are indeed just the current hl2 zombie animations, and you'll be glad to know that we are in no way planning to keep them, as some of you stated, they are just filler animations for the time being, we're currently waiting for our new character animator to get started and hopefully give us some brand new animations, these coupled with the gore once it's fully coded will hopefully make the zombies a hell of a lot better. there will of course be other zombie models too, we've simply been concentrating on other stuff first.

BBS will be playable if you have hl2dm, in fact it will require you to have hl2dm as this is the code it's based off.

I think thats pretty much addressed all the points raised in the comments, if not please feel free to make some more and we'll answer them :)

seems to me like we all lost our developer status to it which is quite annoying, as it would seem its reverted to sniper, and I havent seen him online for ages, which means we can't even easily get it back...

we had issues with the whole arm thing for a while, we have our own custom built arms now though, that ingame shot is actually from an older build of the game that really shouldn't have been released.

release wise, we're working to provide you with a solid beta as soon as possible, were currently at the stage where we can all log onto a dedicated server, and run around aimlessly blasting zombies, which while fun, still leaves a lot to be desired.

The skills system basically works, but we're currently lacking proper integrated missions, and also we're lacking decent maps in which to put these missions, since some of our mappers *glares at bacon* are lazy LOL

so if anyone thinks they can map, contact us to apply and we may get this out sooner rather than later ;)

The first order of business is to get pretty much a direct port of the original going, this isn't quite as easy as it sounds, cause pretty much everything has to be redone from scratch again due to the vast differences between hl1 and hl2, so for now, the weapons are pretty much going to be the same as in the original, thats not to say they use the same code though ;) we're hoping each weapon will have its own little unique feature. once we've got a playable game that actually looks and feels like brainbread, then we can start work on thing like new weapons, whih is actually something we're really looking forward to, so yes, there will be new weapons, but just not on a first release. :)

I don't know tbh.. I havent really paid much attention to the moty thing other than to put the mod up for it.. the only video we have at the moment is the trailer one, but.. I think now we have some more completed and less dark maps and a dedicated server, I might get started on recording a new one :)

yeah, it probably wouldnt take that long to do, but realistically, its not even onscreen when you;re holding it, what little you do see during the reload the hand does actually fit around it ok. tbh, I've rigged and animated all but the cx4 and to go back and do it now.. it's just something that really isnt high on my list of priorities, the polycount for it would onlu be increased by a few polys anyway, so thats not really an issue, its just a case that i'd have to edit the reference model, and then that would change it in all the animations, but then the hands would be out in all the animations.

What I will do, Is modify it on the world model, that way when youre running around and pick it up, it'll look the right size, but its really just not an issue on the view model as you don't see it.

I'm currently working on a map, it's coming along pretty well considering I'm no mapper

the trigger guard and handle are a little too thick, its pretty noticable in the renders, but you can't really see them ingame so it doesnt make much difference. fixing it would require a lot of time for what would really just be a minor aesthetic fix, so for now, i'm just going to leave it, maybe later on when theres not so many other more pressing things to be done :)
