Mostly the answer to this is: Why not? It's a hobby and a pet project for me that others have shown interest in, and I mostly work on it for self enjoyment :P

Probably not a whole lot, other than the fact that I'm going to be trying to stick as close in respect to the original Doom as possible. This is really being done as a hobby, and that's the driving motive behind it is that I enjoy modeling and editing =)

Agreed, it's a pain. The hardest question is, how far does one go? If it gets too high detailed for textures it loses its roots it seems. If it stays too low-graphic, than it just looks terrible. That happy medium is going to be the hardest part to get down :P

That's my first priority for the mod; Modeling, animating and texturing of the weapons. In the grand scheme of things they will be simple. No LOD to worry about since they're viewmodels, just some slight editing to change the particles, small number of sounds, etc. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will have all 8 weapons modeled and animated by end of the year, perhaps texturing too if I'm lucky! :P
