Hey dude, first off I'd like to praise you on your honest appraisal of the amount of time and planning that needs to go into a mod. It seems like you're quite committed to making this happen, so I wish you the best of luck!
As for myself, I'm very interested in your mod because I've consistently thought about why a game like Doom "feels" so much better than many shooters today, and perfected the "Run-and-Gun" play-style that I miss so much. I'd love to see the same "feel" translated to an up-to-date engine with graphics to pass on to the spoiled generation of gamers who have difficulty playing the original Half-Life, let alone Doom. So sad.
Anyway sorry for rambling, but I've been working in Hammer designing maps for TF2 for the last few years and wouldn't mind trying my hand at a mod, so if you're interested I'd like to offer my services for remaking the Doom levels. I'll see what I can bang out and when I have something tangible I'll send it your way and we can talk from there.

hey why don't you add me to the team. I'm a moddeller working for mods such as wolf3d remake. if you want to see an example of my work pm me and I'll show you. I model: characters, props, v_models, W_models... thats about it. I hope to work with you :P
also just in the mean time I'll make a helmet to replace the hl2 battery as an example of work.
Hey man, i hope i dont bother you but i think you will be interested in what i have right now for this mod, as i said i tried to make this proyect a bit ago, but abandoned it, however i already got the doom2 new soundtrack, all the doom 2 maps loyout, a couple of renders as well as the first map totally functional, and almost the 2nd one finished
Oh and i think the weapon should be centered! i think its more suitable for it =), i hope you answer me if you want this stuff
I'd certainly be interested in toying around with them and using what you have as a basis for future components!
