Why does it close when I try to play a battle or campaign?

No windows 8 isn't the problem because im using windows 8 and im able to download it, so its something else causing it.

when I start the game it load then it closes when I click on a campaign or a custom battle. any ideas?

I downloaded divide and conquer and I click on the icon and I begins to load then I get taken straight back to my desktop. Can anyone help? Thanks
