Freelancer has to be one of the greatest space games that I've ever played. It has action, adventure, an amazing story, and loads of awesome ships to fly! The game itself is great, but with the incredible mods that its community has made, this game will live on for quite a while. Out of all the games I've played, this one has some of the greatest mod support I've ever seen. Truly a masterpiece.
This was a VERY short mod, but it was also somewhat good. I'll do my normal condensed review, otherwise I'd ramble on for too long.
Pros: Good level design, fun gameplay, and excellent music
Cons: Too many crates to move (breaks up immersion), blatantly simple boss battle, lack of voice acting, and it was waaaaay too short
I am, in no way, a half-life fan, but you managed to win me over a bit. This mod, with some improvements, might actually be better than the original game. I'd also like to add, that all the bullsh*t remarks people made about this are pointless. Before has its problems, but it's not as terrible as they're making it out to be.
Not bad. It had some pretty good jumpscares mixed with an eerie atmosphere. However, I am still confused as to who that guy in the robe was (and I'm guessing he was on a timer?). All in all, it was a good boredom buster, and I'd really like to see what you guys could do in a full-length game.
First off, this is meant as constructive criticism (I'm not trying to be an *** :). When I first started playing this mod I had high hopes for it, due to the positive reviews it had gotten. I don't know where those came from. The combat quickly got repetitively infuriating, the more I played it. There are just TOO MANY DAMN MISSILES! By the time one realizes that they have to have their cm dropper switched on to have the slightest chance of living, their dead. I ended up getting so frustrated by it, that I didn't even finish playing the mod! I don't mean this to sound rude at all, but you do understand that the player is supposed to win right? If I kept going on, this review would be too long, so I'll condense it for you. Oh, and don't even get me started on the voice acting.
Things I Hated: Too many missiles, too many mines, very poor voice
acting, repetitive gameplay, infuriating gameplay,
lack of loadout/ship customization, fair system
Things I Liked: Blowing stuff up & flying the Anubis.
Created by the Polish company Techland (some of their other work being Call of Juarez), Chrome Specforce is the prequel to Chrome (ironically there wasn't much chrome to be seen). This review was going to be much longer, but it was over the 2,000 character limit. So in that case I'll condense it some.
Pros: decent voice acting (excluding the protagonist), decent-looking levels
Cons: unrealistic amounts of enemies, useless “power armour”, a very small inventory, ordinary guns
So all things considered, Chrome Specforce gets a 6/10 in my opinion. It had a unique story, good level design, and decent voice acting; but the cons really tend to pull it down a few notches. All in all, it was still an entertaining game to play.
Plain and simple. It was, and still is, the best damn game in the series. None of the others even come close to matching it.
