I have also been getting the CTD after completing the first Alien mission, but as TerraDyte suggests, keeping the standard avp_huds folder did the trick.

I decided to see if I could narrow it down to see if one file was causing the problem. I had a save just before the end of the first Alien mission and tried a combination of old/new files in the avp_huds folder. It seemed if I had all the new files except for 'hnpcmarine.RIF' then I wouldn't crash after completing the level, however it seems this file isn't solely responsible as I then tried finishing the level with just that file updated and the rest being original and I didn't CTD.

So to summarise, 'hnpcmarine.RIF' may be causing a problem when along side some of the other newer files, or I may experience CTDs with other files responsible on different levels/species'.

Great work from what I've played so far, only problem is that I can't seem to enter Dark Valley. I have tried from the Cordon entrance and also the lower Garbage entrance, but I always get a crash to desktop.

Maybe this means something:
