Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead

Game review

Game is fantastic but make sure you go to their real website to download as the moddb posting is very old, Cataclysmdda.org. It's a roguelike but unlike traditional ones you have a massive world modeled on our own after an apocalyptic event, complete with extensive crafting, building, and vehicle construction. It is playable on every OS however iOS is quite outdated unlike the others.

great mod, makes the game playable

Root of a lot of stalker mods, I prefer Anomaly for 64 bit support but this is still worth a download if you want a more original experience

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly

Mod review

Nice to see it finally running a 64 bit engine, think that alone deserves praise since 3 different mod projects had yet to do it. I played Last Day pretty heavily as my first Stalker experience and I think that Anomaly captures a better balance overall in addition to having a lot of the kinks worked out. I like that dynamic anomalies appears to finally have bugs out too. Overall I like this more than Dead Air, there's a lot more quests, you can actually play as the different factions instead of just loner, AI have a good detection range and use of tactics. SUGGESTIONS: If its not too much work the dynamic fog in Dead Air was epic, and finally the spotlight on the helicopter would look good with the lighting in here now. I find that those are realistic additions that would really add immersion to Stalker in general.
EDIT: The 3.0 update finally made the STALKER experience cohesive, without a mish-mash of different previous mods. Crafting, cooking, and upgrading has been refined. NPCs have more life to them by trading and better optimized ALife. Definitely the best way to play STALKER in my opinion. Only complaint is everything you loot is basically broken, and even your starting gear is damaged. I don't know about you, but I'd keep the stuff that is keeping me alive in pretty good condition.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Last Day

Mod review

Finally got me to play STALKER, slowly progressed through mods though before finding this one. Saw CoC and Misery, couldn't decide which to download, found CoM, saw mention of Last Day and ta-da a pretty much all in one noob pack that makes it easy for lazy people like me. Most of the mods that were added in are ones I see a lot in reviews plus a lot I hadn't seen. Great and probably most up to date version out right now since Last Day incorporates Misery 2.2 features/textures on top of CoM along with CoC 1.5 engine features. I do recommend downloading the Last Day addon for Absolute Nature port plus Structures Redux and Nature Redux. Newest version of mod is super stable and haven't had any crashes yet, just with my addon incompatibilities so far...

Expanding Fronts

Mod review

Brings a classic RTS back to life, been delving ModDB lately trying out all these great mods. New factions/faction changes are pretty cool and really looking forward to seeing what comes out next. Also I like the split to the confederacy, troopers for them look sweet. Surprised they haven't made an HD BG with the new movies and AOE2 HD lol
