Have you considered using the SWMH map or the Lux Invicta map to allow for more provinces in each culture? I doubt their creators would say no if you asked.

So which nations are each of these for?

I think that having it be difficult for the Enclave to expand was on purpose as the creators didn't want them curb-stomping all the other nations within the first few in-game years.

I'd suggest a Prussian/(2nd)German Empire nation around Berlin

My guess would be deadland is uncolonizable, glowland degrades into deadland or wasteland, and wasteland can be colonized.

Almost no major updates to any medieval 2 mods are save game compatible.

I decided to try to launch native as I wondered if the game still worked at all. It does not anymore, I guess that's what I get for not playing it too often. I'm gonna reinstall Warband and see if it'll work then

I extracted the files directly out of the .rar into my modules, and then extracted the bugfix files into the warsword conquest folder.

I've tried installing the mod from here and uninstalled it and reinstall with a download from nexus but whenever the game goes past the opening credits it goes black and sends me to the desktop.
