How do I access the Army Warehouses Freedom Armory? If I shoot off the lock the door just stays locked.

I've been playing through your mod, the magazine loading was a really great touch, and the weapon models are nice. I just made it to agropom and tried entering the underground but crash. I saw the fix and having to restart the game was crossed out, is it still required?
