Hey folks.

I dont know about you, but I played C&C3 ever since the launch of the game. And during some of the earlier patches for the game, EA decided to remove sonic-weapons affect on Tiberium, aka, they do not damage Tiberium anymore.

I feel this is a little odd and out of place, isnt it? Maybe this should be added back in.

I agree. I do believe that the original purpose for sonic weaponry was to combat tiberium, no?

Yes, that is true. They were originally developed to fight/hold back tiberium.

However, one thing that has me a bit puzzeled:

Sonic weapons, are they based off of the same tech as the Disruptor from TS? Because as far as I remember it, the technology of sonic weapons came from the Tacitus at the end of Firestorm, or? Mind you that GDI used the Disruptor before they decoded the Tacitus.

If it did come from the Tacitus, would it then actualy have any effect on non-tiberium based materials such as a human being or a tank made out of steel? I could understand in that case that it'd effect Scrin and Mutant units, they are basicly Tiberium lifeforms. But Nod and GDI units and structures?

According to the info at C&C wikia about harmonic resonance, commonly known as sonic tech, no its not from the tacitus but was based on special sonic crystals and yes it can damage tiberium. more info can be check here Cnc.wikia.com

But then what did the GDI scientist team find out when they decoded the Tacitus at the end of TS that was so important?

Scrin invasion.

Doesnt that seem a bit odd though? I mean, they find out about that way before it happens. And yet, in C&C3 the GDI command seems completley unaware of the Tacitus existance?

Most likely the fault of EA.
At the end of firestorm (canon ending) GDI actually deciphers the tacitus. So EA probably forgot about that and went and did their own thing.

... I hate EA.... they made so many plot holes....

I would like to point out mission 5(?) of the GDI campaign in tibsun. you know... where they investigate a scrin mothership?

Anyways, I still think sonic weapons should damage tib.

Getting a little off topic now, but what about mission 5?

A scrin mothership lands (crashes) and nod is investigating, you have to go find it and rest control from nod. next mission, you need to defend it.

Again, if you count renagade as canon, there's an alien ship in one of the last missions.

but yah: sonic weapons were developed for combat purposes, but were turned to reclamation purposes, then back to combat.

Well yes I know the mission, but why did you mention it?

And Renegade could be seen as half-canon I guess. Maybe a sepparate thread for canon and plotholes should be made?

Why did I mention it? because it means that GDI knows that the aliens existed. Why was everyone so surprised when they showed up? yes there's the obvious factor of alien invasion, but other than that, nobody knew about them. even GDI brass seemed to think the impossible had happened, when they should have clearly knew about the scrin existance.

Really off topic now, lets continue this somewhere else, yes?
