Taken from Moddb.com

Hmm, of course GDI knew of some kind of aliens, but then again, the Scrin-ship could just as well have been a Nod, or even a Forgotten fake. And there were no living creatures inside the ship itself, except Umagon and perhaps other mutants.

According to the wiki... Wasn't that ship made by Nod at the end of The First Tiberian War or something?

I'm just going from what I know by playing the games. I don't recal nod ever saying they were going to fabricate an alien ship, bury it, and then excavate it... because that would be stupid...

What does have me curious though is where did the ship come from? Did it just crashland there and no one noticed long enough for any creatures inside it to make off?

There were Alien pods in TD though I never saw them, some rumors on the web but the ship in TS is built at the end of the 1st Tib War for Nod by Nod.

I am positive to have seen a crashed "ship" in TD, just at the starting-area off of a cliff on an early level as GDI.

Thats the one, yes.

No it's defenitley not an Orca. It looks more like a crashed spaceshuttle.

It does indeed look like a sort of a droppod. But a droppod from what? They werent used until the Second Tiberium War by GDI.

My idea of it is that it could just have been a sort of an easter egg, just for the fun of it, by Westwood.

However, do take in mind here. Westwood did say they planned a sort of stealthy Scrin "attack". Maybe they arrived in these small pods one by one?

er... there was more than one though.

Also, they look like crashed space shuttles if anything... as in the american ones used in the 90s.

Yea, thats what I thought during all the years I played that game way before I "knew" about the internet.

ok... after reading those forums my eye's are dried and almost fried so... my conclusion is

It is a map asset added by west-wood which is just supposed to be a crashed piece of shuttle or something..

And, WHY are we talking about this...

Because thats the subject we happened to come up with! And it is of importance, since it is not just a randomly added subject, I am assured of that. It does have to do with their original plan for the story.

Dont worry, the thread is not in danger... although we need MOAR CANON! >:D

Ok, I may not have Canon, but i do have some references to the one in TS, maybe unlocking the secrets behind it will reveal what WW had planned for the one in TD.

Piglet wrote: All that I remember about the Scrin in TS is this:

There is only one race. Westwood had in thoughts to split up that race into loyalists and rebels. The rebels sending the Tacitus to Earth in order to help us prepare against the Scrin invasion. It fell in the hands of Nod/Kane. It was brought to Earth in the Scrin ship you see crashed in Tiberian Sun (the part where Vega says that Kane buidlt it is false. He probably 'said' that to Vega in order to keep secresy about the Scrin. Early drafts even had the Scrin ship named: Rebel Scrin Ship.

Also the Forgotten would play a big role in that they would be resistant to Tiberium based weaponry because of their mutations. So whatever faction could command them, commanded the future of Earth.

Also the Scrin invasion wouldn't be a sudden event. It would be heavily pointed towards throughout the original C&C3, where the actual arival would be implemented in an Expansion (because the game would just get too big). One would discover new crashed ships in missions, or otherwise strangem utated beings, which would be the actual scrin themselves.

So that is pretty much what I can remember.

NoodleSocks wrote: Prototype. I guess by the time the ship was completed, the first TW was coming to a end and there was no point in revealing the ship to the world, so it was hidden and never used.

The interesting part: During the GDI Ending, Kane talks about "invulnerable ships" - in fact, during one of the videos, its said that a huge amount of C4 was detonated under the scrin ship without even scratching it. I wonder why this never has been mentioned aigain and if the ship is still there, buried under tons of dirt and rocks...

I would assume that the reconstructed scrin ship was based on a warship instead of what we saw in C&C 3 which were essentially just space tractors.

Adam wrote: "The TS ship was one constructed by Nod off of Scrin / Tacitus data. It was a Nod design trying to mimic some of the Scrin tech in a Noddish way. It wasn't a true Scrin ship."

Muk wrote: I always had some questions about Kane and Nod.

In TD it is mentioned nobody understands where Kane's army is coming from, as if it was created within a wink of an eye. This is explainable with Ra1 where Kane can be seen controlling the soviet war machine. This leads to two questions;

1) If einstein developed for the allies, then how did Kane get acces to the timemachine and go to the cold war?
2) If Kane really used the soviet army, warped it to the future and reformed it into Nods army, then why is there so little soviet tech present?

This is all, of course explainable if Kane would be immortal (which would explain his messianic status) and witnessed the cold war, teamed up with Tesla and contacted the scrin to repay the allies for what they did...

Anything you want to share about how it WOULD have been?

Stygs wrote: Btw, during the GDI ending, Kane mentions tiberium missiles, invulnerable ships & realtime generic mutation.
We can see the Tibeirum missiles during the Nod ending, we see the tiberium mutation (Umagaan), so I allway figured the "invulnerable ships" part clearly refered to his involvement with the Scrin Ship.

And your scrin backstory is only one posibillity, WW seemed to have various ideas what the scrin story could be and how the events in CNC3 would play out. You can find more about that in the link above.

Sypher wrote: Where do you people come up with that stuff.

Here're a few fun facts:

1. The UFO in TS was called "Scrin Ship" in the tool tip. And it was built by Kane at the end of the first war, based on knowledge from the Tacitus. Same as the Banshee.
2. The UFO crashed because of Vega's inability to fly it.
3. There were no other Aliens.

4. Westwood Studios had several conflicting ideas of how to develop those sories.
4.1. In one of those ideas, the Tacitus was sent by Martians who were victimized by the Scrin before Earth. In their dying moments, they managed to compile all their knowledge of Tib and send it to Earth, so that what happened to them doesn't happen to us. Aren't Martians just swell?
4.2. Another was the Good Scrin/Bad Scrin idea.
4.3. None of those ideas were ever fleshed out or released to the public in any official or canonical medium.

Yes, it was my turn to dry your eyes XD

although information appears to be lacking on the one in TD... so... was the one in TS scrin? or was it another alien race? or was it even just Nod trying to pretend to be alien?

Here's what I know of the Scrin ship in TS.

It was built by Nod using information extracted from the Tacitus, it was basically an experiment of anti-gravity and bio-technology all fit in a space ship. The idiot Nod general of South America (Vega) took it for a fly (that's what he really did) and he just planted it on the ground cause he could not control it. Source: Youtube.com

GDI didn't translate all of the Tacitus, but only a few things, mainly a warning of an invasion (Scrin). Source: Youtube.com
Also, they don't seem to be too smart with using the Tacitus and understanding its boundaries and potential. Source: Youtube.com

The Renegade Scrin Ship, I don't really know about it as I haven't played a lot of Renegade other than multiplayer.

Ah! Thats what I thought I remembered, way way too long since I played through all of TS!

However, your second link to Youtube leads to the same video as your first link.

As for Renegade, laser guns, personal ion cannons, and strange looking vehicles, it doesnt belong to the canon to 100%. It just doesnt match up at all.

Maybe it is a plothole of the TW story, but the doctor says it would take some time to reconstruct the segments of the Tacitus, maybe they did reconstruct it but could not understand it or they finally could not do anything, I can't really say much, although maybe EA was right making GDI unable to use the Tacitus, imagine a GDI with plasma weapons or anti-gravity ships. Anyway, good find Atlas. :D

Just remember that the Tacitus were not made by the Scrin, atleast not the same Scrin you face in C&C3.
