Description
The XM1 Abrams was the experimental prototype of the M1A1 Abrams. It featured a 105mm main gun which was deemed to be too weak. It was decided to use either a British or German 120mm gun. It was also decided to use the British Chobham armour over the same armour as the Leopard tanks of the time. The gun was eventually decided to be a German 120mm smoothbore gun.

Well to be honest half of the stuff you've posted are reposts. They are posted really long ago though.
actually i've never seen this before. and i'm surprised how the XM1 looked like this. kinda reminds me of a Leopard instead.
WAIT WHAT?! And I thought Leos didn't use Chobham *my little world collapses* But to to the point, I really thought Leos used something else as armour, not Chobham.
'over the same armour as leopards' Leopard tanks use(d?) perforated armour. Don't know if they still do.
Leopards didn't use Chobham. and nobody said they do.
