Description

armor:

According to some estmations the basic turret armor is estimated to be equivalent to 530 mm homogeneous steel armor (RHA) against APFSDS. This is similar to the protection level of the early T-90 turret armor without Kontakt-5 ERA, but significantly lower than of M1A1 turret armor (750-820 mm). China’s newly developed series of ERA protection indicates a similar level of the Russian “Kontakt-5” reactive armour, which is believed to be equivalent to 250-300 mm homogeneous steel armor (RHA) protection against APFSDS. So the total level of protection on the turret might be ~700-800 mm RHA equivalency. However, the ERA modules might be more effective than it was first estimated. Recently in the Syria war, a T-90 has been hit by a TOW-2A missile that was believed to be able to defeat the Kontakt-5 ERA of the T-90 and penetrate the basic armor. However in reality the Kontakt-5 ERA completely defeated the TOW missile and the basic armor wasn't even scatched.

As a result of this analysis, the armor protection of the tank might be even greater than the first figures estimated. Furthermore it is also claimed that the front protection of the Type 99 MBT (which is very close to the Type 99G) is equivalent to 1000 - 1200 mm of steel armor.

firepower:

APFSDS: Muzzle velocity 1,700? m/s, armour penetration 650-750? mm RHA at 0° at 2,000 m.

BK-27 HEAT: Triple-shape charge warhead, Muzzle velocity 900? m/s, penetration value 700-800? mm of RHA at 0° any range
