Love how the gun is just a tube welded to the front of the turret.
In narrow streets between buildings where men with RPG could hide any tank is USELESS, chechen war just prooved it...

Chechen war just proved an incompitance of the high command. Besides, a high treason also took place - when the tanks were entering the town, their ERA boxes were totally empty and didn't contain any explosives.
Tanks are not useless in urban terrain - they are highly vulnurable, yes. And even so, there is nothing, which can compare in firepower with them.
Yet using that firepower would be wasting ammo. There are usually no suitable targets in urban warfare/guerilla war. And combined with high vulnerability, this kind of war is not a good place for classic tank.
A vehicle with IR sensors, tough ERA and armed with firethrower to burn them inside those buildings could do more.
Urban and guerilla warfare is not the same thing. I mean, guerilla warfare takes place not only in urban terrain.
And what are those abstract vehicles "with IR sensors, tough ERA and armed with firethrower"? They are still armored vehicles, they will always be highly vulnurable in urban terrain and still highly effective at the same time. It's only a question of a way and advisablity of using tanks in such kind of warfare.
