Doesn't look quite apocalyptic to me...then again, I haven't a caliber.
I'd say that's a SU 152, a self-propelled heavy howitzer, carrying a 152-mm ML-20S gun-howitzer.
EDIT: btw, that's NO (as u call it) tank killer ;)
Wonder why the russkies made this, i mean they already had the IS-2 which is basically this with a turret.
Same reason that the Germans made the StuG IV even though they had the Pz.IV-cost. Turrets are expensive to build, and aren't necessary for certain roles.

No this is a ISU-122. There's also the ISU-152-1 with a lenghetend (very long) 152mm gun but you can see in the picture it is clearly the 122mm gun.
