M26 Pershing and IS-3

i never thought i'd say that but i guess IS3 would pwn the persh...
Considering the M26 Was classed as A Medium tank after WW2, while the IS-3 was the most powerful tank in the world well up to the 70's.. I guess..
I thought that would've been the is-7 or obkiekt 279 :D
The IS-3 was maybe the most powerful tank until the early 50's at most, and even then SOLELY in armor, which was not as significant or impressive as most video games make out. Furthermore, its 122mm gun was woefully underpowered. Caliber isn't everything; the 90mm gun on the Pershing was even superior to it, penetrating roughly 130mm of 30 degree sloped armor at 500mm (and 221mm with APCR/HVAP) as opposed to 120mm, but at only 60 degrees for the 122mm (also at 500m).
The IS-3 looks good on paper and performs well in video games, but it was not nearly as impressive in real-life. Certainly a feared tank, but lacking in everything but armor. And as was learned by the Germans, heavy overengineered armor wont win your wars for you.
The IS series primary desing function was not to kill tanks is was to provide the soviets with a heavily armored breakthrough tank, a tank capable of resisting most german antitank fire and with a gun having good he capabiltiy with adequate antitank use,

The IS-3 was Techically superiot to the IS-7 (Or T-10) Due to it's speed. The T-10 was like many German Heavy tanks, slow but powerful.
