Mobile artillery not tank
Mate, even if the M109 isnt designed to be a ''classic'' battletank it has the abillity to use AT-ammo to to be used similar to a tankhunter...
which means that it's a dual purpose howitzer?
not really, i just say that i CAN be used against tanks as a AT-gun, but its main role is that of a mobile howitzer. as far as i know the M109 never fired a single shot directly at an enemy tank(as a "AT-gun") while being in service of western armies.
take a look at what i wrote under the PzH2000, at least and as far as i know german arty-crews(who allso used the M109 befor they had the PzH2000) ware still trained to use their howitzer directly against tanks.
