I dont think it would stand against the Merkava Mk. IV :/
It has the same gun as that of the T-90, equipped with both hard and softkill (Looks a the black box's in the other picture) ADS, features extensive ERA and indigenous composite armor add-on and top of the line FCS so why not?
They modified it themselves? and put the T90's Cannon to the T72? or what?
You do realize that the T-90A is basically a heavily upgraded T-72BV with a redesigned turret? And Iran been license producing the T-72BV/S for a decade now.
And yes they modified it themselves. However most of the tec are based off that of the Russian.

But just the T72's Tech and System is old already.
Ya know the Abram is quite old too. So is the Leo.
Yes, they indeed are. But As far as i know they're still frequently updated much, Unlike the T72.
Or i just don't know about it?

If i understand it correctly these T72s are old museum tanks with some techy upgrades. While new models of Abrams and Leopards are built from scratch. Leopard 2A6 is not built on a rusting Leo 2A husk...
It's like you compare a new Cheverolet Corvette (same name as the 40 year old Corvette, but new model name) against an old Trabant, stating the uppgraded Trabant has a new engine comparable with the 'Murican one. Thing is, it's still an old crappy Trabant.

I'm glad to see that Iran has the better of the export T-72 models. I think most countries have the basic T72M or some cheesy former eastern block model, not sure I would have to check the numbers. But none the less its a pretty looking T-72.
