This group is for everyone who like tanks, sci-fi tanks, real tanks, funny tanks, you can put here tank mods, tank maps, simply everything with straps, armor and gun :D
No, sry I have to disappoint you, it can't. At least not turret front armor because the turret front of Challenger 2, Merkava 4 and Leopard 2 are inpenetrable against any threats. But the front armor on the chassis is more vulnerable because of less armour, remember that the turret is always most protected. And a RPG-29 once penetarted the CHally 2's front armor on the chassis. Furthermore, MBTs are still vulnerable to the thin side and rear armour. The M1's Abrams side armor can be pierced by even small calibred 25mm autocannons, when abandoned M1's were destroyed by US. army to prevent capture.
so your bassicly saying if youre flanking with this one, it's just a matter of who shoots first, the Challanger 2 or the CV90-120? And I do think this got a hell alot of more piercing power then a rpg, 70mm vs 120?
bigger caliber of guns don't automatically mean higher penetrating power....it depends mostly on the round/warhead which is fired by the weapon. RPG-29 "vampire", shoots Thermobaric rockets which have significant increased penetration capability. I'm not quite sure about the muzzle velocity of the 120mm gun on the CV90 but i'm pretty sure it is able to penetrate the thin side or rear armour of MBTs, since even small calibre 25mm autocannons can do this (at least the armour of M1 Abrams when shooting APFSDS rounds)
Don't forget this is a light tank, not a full-blown MBT and will never stand up against one (except for obsolete ones maybe)
it is like comparing T-34-85 vs King Tiger, it is obvious that the KT wins 1 vs 1.
But the CV90120 is the best alternative vehicle for a country who needs a light main battle tank with low cost per unit. It is certainly not comparable to a real main battle tank but is a very good and cheap alternative.
At least it is probably way better than the "LAV-Mobile Gun System" bough by the Canadian Forces in 2003.
Sir, the radius of the shell is propotional of the pentration of the HEAT round, which both the 120mm smothbore and the RPG fires, the muzzle velocity doesn't matter at all (with HEAT). The other thing is that Sweden is leading in small arms AT weapons, like the At-4 and Carl Gustav recoilless rifle, which with the right amunition can penetrate any tank (the problem is that the shells are heavy so a guy can't run around with shells to counter all possible armor). So I bet we can make good 120mm HEATs...
Looks so damn awesome! :D
Yea really cool tank. =)
Why don't we have these in Sweden? :S Meh, we have Leopard 2s instead xD
I wonder, can one of these penetrate the front armor of the Challanger 2?

true but APS makes them all completely useless anyway, sry (:
