So is it scrapped or there will be more NATO tanks using those in the future ?
guns like that will probably be kept by NATO for further improvements and implementation on various platforms.
I'd love to seen one M1A2 with one of those.
it cant handle so much german steel :) (m1a2:s gun is made/designed by krupp, right?)
The M1a2s gun is made by General Dynamics, a licensed version of the 120mm L44 cannon made by Rheinmetall.
also the m1 can handle as much "american steel" as the leopard
The XM291 Advanced Tank Cannon was a 140mm cannon developed by the americans for the exact same reasons like the german one
