I actually know some stuff about the Sleknam here. So just to start they have nothing to do with aliens, sorry if I ruined it for you xD. They lived in Tierra del Fuego (land of fire), an island that made part of Chile and Argentina, located to the south. Those body paintings and mask made out of trees' barks were used to imitate spirits in the ceremony of Hain which was a initiatory ceremony for when young men became adults. The story says that way back in time, the women governed men. It was said that women had magic powers and were allied to Xalpen (a monstrous whale that ordered men to feed her meat otherwise she would eat them). Women were spokesmen of Xalpen and the spirits that rose from the ground or came from the skies in the ritual of Hain where young girls were introduced to the secrets of magic.
But all this was nothing but a lie and Kre (the strongest among the women) gave the orders to put body-paint and masks to imitate spirits and designated each one a role. Meanwhile the men obeyed and the women feasted and laughed at their stupidity. But one day the lie was discovered by Sol (Sun), he couldn't believe it, so he went back to where the men were and he uncovered the truth. The men decided to take revenge ,and armed they attacked the women's camp in the middle of the Hain ceremony. They killed every woman except for Kre (Sol's wife). Sol took a flaming log and started beating Luna (Moon), at that moment the skies quivered with such violence that he stopped. With her face defaced by burns and blows Luna fled to the skies persecuted by Sol. Sol would chase her for eternity never being able to reach Luna (yet another cool myth about the sun and the moon). The only survivors were the girls who were not initiated yet. The men walked away and they mourned for their mothers, but they decided to adopt Hain as their ceremony, and from then on they would dominate and trick women just as they were fooled and dominated before (and so it became a male ceremony to initiate young boys into the ways and secrets of the adults, I don't know how the ritual was handled but I know it had a lot of hard tests).

Now that is amazing and i never heard about
Perhaps nothing to do about with aliens in the modern sense but this sounds like an otherwordly happening to me linked with the matriarchal times
It seems this hasn't stopped in our days because the majority of women still fool men a lot and young men aren't initiated into adulthood at all

This is the kind of stuff i love reading about without catching a breath
I'm without words anyhow
Where did you get this knowledge ?

Most of the knowledge came from history class in school, since we take a little glimpse at every original town's culture of Chile. Then some of it refined by Internet research but these sites are almost all in Spanish.
