Dear (remaining?) DS'96 fans. Many of you actually know already what I'm going to say here: the project has overgrown its pants as a C&C3 mod, with all the engine's limitations and copyrights protections. When I first started initially this mod it was a small project about Ukraine, Russia and Turkey battling in the Black Sea, with each side having 4-6 vehicles + infantry and aircraft. It all changed when both my co-partners left the idea.
Despite now having having 2 hands instead of 6, I not only didn't abandon the project - I wanted it to become something bigger, a universe of its own, a true C&C 2.0. So I grabbed a map of Europe and a pencil... and so the DS'96 universe was born, about an alternate 90's when EU, the nascent Federation of Intermarium and Turkey confront in controlling the remaining pieces of Europe and Russia.
Also the project enjoyed much (as for a C&C3 mod :P) attention and me gaining spare hands, nevertheless it fell into oblivion with me attending the uni and us (it was already us) disliking the C&C3 limitations.
For about a year DS'96 was like a sleeping yogi - nobody could tell if it's still dead or alive. We tried lot of other engines, concepts, universes, idea, just to realize after a year that nothing could be better than a bit revised DS'96 universe.
So I hope you'll have fun watching the Dark Summer'96 reincarnation, now a true game of its own :P
Bigger, longer and uncut! No compromises, no prisoners!
Rogue Republic will be an RTS of its own, now featuring 4 individualized sides - EU, Intermairum, Great Turan and now Russia as well, plus naval mode, ability to customize your army, kill pigs, destroy annoying daisies and and.... Just follow the game's profile and track it :D
As for this profile - it will remain intact if one day we will want to release a demo-version on C&C3 base, old school mini-version or just for historic interest and curious guys lurking all around.
See ya in Rogue Republic!
