Because it's the least compatible browser there is, Microsoft is still thinking they are living a dream and that every website is coded to work on Internet Explorer while most programmers in real life have said: "Screw IE, let's create something that is actually worth making."
Firefox is said to be the most powerful and can read pretty much any code out there while Goofle Chrome suddenly came out there claiming it is the fastest webbrowser ever made.
EDIT: Goofle was a misstype but it sounds funny so I'm gonna leave it like it is =)
IE is outdated crap that's trying to play catch-up. In my experience, IE users are the newbs and non-geeks that don't require anything beyond a slow-moving piece of outdated software.
IE9 only further proves the 'playing catch-up' analogy as Microsoft seems to be geekifying it, but in the process they'll more-than-likely alienate their non-geek users (who are the primary ones who still use IE).
Of course, other broswers are not without their faults. Firefox has so many crappy add-ons it can be hard to find a good one, and, without add-ons, it's not THAT much better than IE in terms of performance. Chrome, on the other hand, is perhaps a little TOO minimalist in design for most, though I've found it to be the fastest browser I've used.
I use Opera too, it's the best browser i've used. I have all 5 main browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera) and Opera is the best, most streamlined, fastest, and most customizable browser...
Opera looks nice, not as customizable as Firefox though and when it starts up on my computer there is this stupid bug about a missing dll file, which kinda annoys me =P
I mainly use Chrome now, but I've used Firefox before Chrome came out and liked it. I hate IE (has a whole bunch of crap with it when it launches) but I haven't tried out Opera yet.

Why does everyone hate Internet Explorer?

I tryed Google Chrome once, it was Terrible.

I stopped using IE after it became corrupted and would randomly BSOD my PC
i m happy with opera. can't understand why someone would want to browse with google, i bet it tracks you and sends the info to their hq.

Well I may be a non-geek old schooler using IE but I surdenly don't eat glue :D
Wow so much hate.
The implication is that IE is like the helmet-wearing retard that eats glue, not the user of IE.
Indeed, dunno what creep(s) did that but if I knew who, I'd ban them from the group. This is not how we deal with things here.
Gave you +1 back
So we can't live in a world without judging eachother for the browser we're using? come on.
