Description

Police don't really know what they have with Oliver King. But they don't seem to be willing to take any chances either.

King is a former licensed gun dealer and a citizen of Iran. In other words, he's got the kind of resume that makes law enforcement nervous.

King probably knows this. Which is why, according to the U.S. Attorney General's Office, he lied to border agents when entering Washington from Canada, presenting them with a brand new passport rather than the old one which featured a bunch of stamps from a country that loathes us and his much less Anglican-sounding given name, Hamid Malekpour.

Agents decided to let King go in order to find out what he was up to. He'd told them he needed to go to a mall in Bellingham to pick up his wife. But he kept driving down I-5.

King's first stop was at a gun shop in Oregon, where authorities saw him come out holding a number of shopping bags. Agents eventually arrested him at a storage locker in Ferndale where they say King had stowed over $30,000 worth of guns and ammo.

King's excuse for having enough weapons to arm a small village: I'm a hunter, he told the agents.

King has been charged with making false statements to a government agent, being an alien in possession of firearms and also for furthering the stereotype that every Middle Eastern guy is secretly an international terrorist.
