I really don't get this (Yes I know what Higgs boson is). Too many questions pops into head.

It would be best said, "walks into a Catholic Church."
Not all "churches" have Mass.

The point is why didn't the priest allow Higgs Bossons in the Church? If there was anything you could link to the joke to make that happen then it'd have sense.
On another matter what you said can very rightfully be applied to you, as you see intelligent an attempt at a joke which turned out to be nonsense. If you see this funny then you don't like intelligent humour because it may be too complex for you to understand, hence preferring these simple jokes.
Funny to see how karma is inversely proportional to how right I am stating this. Guess that's why it's a humour related group, but even humour has to make a bit of sense to be funny.
The joke isn't about why he didn't let it in the church the point is the punchline of the joke of which the Higgs bosson declares you can't have Mass without it meaning 1 of 2 things. Mass is what the Higgs bosson represents and it is also the name of a religious ceremony. So saying this isn't intelligent because it doesn't state why he didn't let the Higgs Bosson is utter rubish because without the Priest not allowing the Higgs Bosson to come in there would not be a joke. This is to complex for you to understand. If I understand it, then I do enjoy intellectual jokes. This is no simple joke seeing as you would have to research about religion and ceremonies of those religions and you would have to do research on the Higgs Bosson to link them together and create a joke. This makes sense and everything you're saying doesn't.
Also, you cannot classify a joke as intelligent or simple if you don't get it in the first place.

Trying to justify an action in a joke which does not whatsoever have sense is all but intelligent. A stupid joke without sense will always be and there's no way around it. A proper intelligent joke would have all of its aspects covered and not just a random happening thrown in for the sake of a specific ending to it. It's the difference between intelligent humour and otherwise. That is why this joke isn't intelligent and you're too shortsighted to realise. If you can't get intelligent humour then stop bashing it and gloryfying these lame attempts at a joke to cover it up. A shame.

An intelligent joke would do no such thing as to go into explanation as to why he wouldn't let the Higgs Bosson in in a very descriptive form (considering we also already know why because it's against religion) for that would be a story and a rather unfunny one if the joke had to explain to us what a Higgs Bosson is. This is a short intelligent joke. Intelligent jokes are not specified to be long and descriptive. We do not need an explanation as to why he didn't let the Higgs Bpsson in because we already know why meaning there's no need for a description. Sure he could have said because it opposes religion but the joke can easily be reworded. Therefore this joke is intelligent and makes sense.
I have not said that intelligent jokes have to be long and descriptive, but that does not mean what happens in their context can be a random cluster of events just to lead the joke to a specific end, as I said before. This joke does not need to explain what a Higgs Bosson or Mass is and still could be an intelligent joke if it hinted or there was at all any reason by the priest wouldn't let the Bosson in. Science is not opposed to religion at all, in fact they both complement each other, therefore this attempt at a joke lost its track as it's based on the myth that science and religion are not compatible. Trying to tell a joke based on a wrong fact and pretend the audience to understand it sure is intelligent...
I didn't say science was against religion I said the Higgs Bosson was because it is the "God particle" and the "God particle" is not a compliment to religion. The Higgs Bosson is a hint to the Big bang happening and there being no god. The priest wouldn't let it in the same way he wouldn't let a satanist into a church. We all know why.
So much hate?
Then why hate the joke if its entire point is as a play on words?

humor was barely intelligent in the first place. it's just there to make you laugh let it be true or not.
Humour is very important and definatly intelligent. It makes life bearable for most, and can make a bad situation go away, restore hope to the hopeless ect.
Life without humour would be pure hell >.<
I have to agree with elMengu on one thing, this is nonsense humour, it got a punchline but that's all. that does make it a boring joke imho, did I laugh? No. Did I find it amusing? No. It doesn't even have a twist, just a pun.
