And, according with the HQ (maybe also on the series, but not sure since I didn´t watched the last episodes yet), the only pre-requesite to tranform into an zombie is to die with a non cerebral cause. That is because everyone is infected. If you died from someone snapping your neck or even starved to death (as burnez says) you will come back as a Walker
Most soldiers die in the initial stages of the outbreak as they are trying to hold off the infected or evacuating citizens. And if you throw enough bodies against something, its gonna break. I know in this instance that isn't the case, but it could be possible for infected to break open a tank hatch if they stay dedicated to the task.
A single tank can indeed be quickly overun and it's crew KIA'd if there is enough number of infected present in the area.

LOL! Even if the tank is overrun, it can be opened from inside only. Besides, all modern tanks have an air filtering systems to protect the crew from WMDs and thus the contamination of people inside is quite unlikely.
yea but they were all previously infected somehow which in reality is really what doesn't make sense to me o.0 It is highly unlikely for a natural disease to spread like that and I know of no system that could spread an engineered disease like that with out any one really noticing and even then infection would be spotty and unpredictable. I mean the only real way would be to let the stuff loose at every major mass transit system in the world while simultaneously dispensing it through biological warhead on soviet styled multi warhead ICBMs. Even then given our massive numbers of well over 6 billion its very likely that some % of the populace is completely immune and viable candidates for creating a vaccine. Organizations like the CDC would seek these people out ASAP as its part of their protocol. It would really come down to who is faster the CDC bio engineers or the pandemic.
