What a great point however I still see a use for watches. For example, cheating on a test with a smart watch (Don't do that), checking texts while playing a sport which requires you to leave your phone away from the game, checking the time quicker than pulling out a phone, etc. That being said I don't have a watch, I have a phone:D
This reminds me of an anime where these people are in a game where they have a phone that tells them their future and they have to use it to find and kill each other.
there are a lot of such animes - it's a common trope in both Western and Eastern culture; there are dozens of movies in both cultural modes.
In other words, there are a looooooot of people just looking for an excuse to go on a killing spree; so much so that they'll take even a flimsy story like "my phone told me to do it"

REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY, biatch. I WILL use a smartwatch to cheat on a test.
Checking a watch is actually a lot more convenient than reaching for your whichever pocket and taking out your phone.

Wasn't that actually a diary and not so much a game as it was a test?

The diaries were on cell phones though, and I remembered it more as a game because it was a lot like assassinate mode in assassin's creed.
I still use a watch. Saves me the struggle off pulling the phone from pocket.
I don't use a phone or a watch, I just look at the sun.
Once you realize how easy this method is, you'll become blind to the alternatives.
Want to know the best thing about watches, especially the older ones? They'll keep working for decades on end.
