Guessing this one out is hard. :P
it doesn't matter if they did or not.. nothing is going to happen, other than a lot of people feeling silly.
and i agree but that crazy side of me that occasionaly tries to use the force managed to convince me to buy a few extra batteries, a dynamo-torch and several tins of spam with bottled water.

Well, one should have that stuff anyway in preparation for the inevitable zombie apocalypse, so you're fine.
I've put it into my calendar purely so that on the 22nd, I can rub it in peoples' faces.
well... on the upside if the world does end, nobody will have time to say "I tols you so" :P
