President Ngo Dinh Diem oppressed the Buddhist population (since he was a Catholic), and also tortured and killed many.
Assassination of Diem was backed by Kennedy even though he also was a Catholic. When you say "American terrorism" it doesn't actually must have anything to do with the "American" government, but rather many different people(s) and their affiliations.

Most of this replacing presidents with dictators is so America can control those countries and sell lots of weapons to them. Funny how the U.S. tries to assassinate the dictators that just stop listening to what the U.S. tells them to do and not because they murder people.
